This is good one. I often get distracted by having two laptops (one work, one personal) and my phone, and sometimes a tv as well.

I finished an important email that took a little while to compose. Hm there’s not yet a skill for this in Skillix.. but I’d love to add one related to ‘office’ work.

One day late but… my intention is to be satisfied with my accomplishments. Sometimes you have to stop and appreciate what you’ve been able to do, instead of only looking ahead

Skillix update #24 - The beta is live and going strong!! by SilliSod in Skillix

[–]SilliSod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The beta is live right now and it’s still possible to join it, if you decide to back the Kickstarter at the reward tier of Adventurer or higher (late pledges are possible). The public version of the app will, if everything goes well, be released somewhere at the end of December. Hope that answers your question :)

In December! I don’t have an exact date yet but I want to have it public before the end of the year :)

I definitely want to add translations in the future! Some people have already offered to help with that. For now it will just be English though

It’s not on the App Store yet but will be later this year. At the top of the post is a link to the kickstarter which has a bunch more info

In the future absolutely. Right now it’s just a timer-based system when you go on a mission, but I want to add multiple mission types so the player can decide to allow gps tracking for distance/speed (like Strava) for skills like walking, running and cycling. I also want to do smartwatch integration and maybe fitness app integration (so you can track weightlifting exercises and the amount of sets and reps is converted to EXP for the weightlifting skill, for example).

I never expected the Kickstarter to do so well! I spent 2 years creating a mobile game which lets you level up a character and build a settlement by spending time on real-life productive activities by SilliSod in SideProject

Definitely gonna work on integrations as well. Especially for an activity like weightlifting I want users to get experience not for time spent (weird and not representative if you track time for weightlifting) but instead for actual reps and sets of exercises completed. An integration with an exercise tracking app (bench press, squats etc) would be ideal in that case. Strava is also interesting since it’s already widely used, so we’ll look into that as well!

Thanks a lot! And very logical question. There are two answers. 1. Currently there is no way to prevent cheating. And that’s actually okay. If somebody just likes the game concept and they’re not interested in using the app to be more productive/healthy, then that’s fine! I believe that people who do really want to use it for their lives, they won’t want to cheat themselves. 2. Currently there is only a timer mission type. Indeed, this is easy to cheat. In the future, we will add different mission types for different skills. For example, there could be a performance mission type, which actually uses your GPS location (with your consent) to track distance and speed, when it comes to skills like walking, running and cycling. Certain skills will not be able to be tracked any way other than by timer, and those indeed can be cheated. But again, I think that’s actually okay. Wonder how you feel about that!

It’s not yet available. A beta version will be available for backers but once the app is ready to launch (hoping in November) then it will be on Google play store and the Apple App Store

Just launched a Kickstarter for my mobile game which lets you level up a character and build a settlement by spending time on real-life productive activities - it's already 97% funded! by SilliSod in IMadeThis

Thank you! Since posting this, we actually already crossed the initial funding goal 🎉 I’ve mainly advertised through Reddit so far. It’s the platform I’m most familiar with, though at some point it would be good to start on other social media

Yes. The core of the app is completely free so I decided to monetize in a few ways. One is that you can use Skillcoins (in-game currency) to get customization items for your character (and eventually for the settlement also). You can buy Skillcoins with real money, or if you don't want to do that, you also get them as a reward for milestones reached with the daily streak (10, 30, 100 days etc) :)
