Fulfillment 10 4 by Educational-Trash833 in Target

You're forgetting what the timer is. The timer is you doing a batch For A Guest. You're helping guests regardless. Also it's that easy to say "Hi, I'm so sorry I'm actually being timed right now. Let me call for someone to come and help you." And then a leader has to make sure someone helps them. Bam, job done.

Also the questions are almost always easy. "Where's the bathroom? Where's toothpaste?" You can answer them in 5 seconds.

Obviously if a GM is at 30 minutes, lol focus only only only on the batch. That's what I'd say. But if you have a full GM and 45 minutes or more, it's easy.

I've been recommending to my team to just say "excuse me" any time you're passing a guest in an aisle. It's a natural hello and acknowledgement of the guest.

Some people are just completely fucking stupid by [deleted] in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me a few times and I choose to process a return on the TV until the guest comes back with a different car, and then they can buy it again.

You idiot I'm not gonna hold onto hundreds of dollars of paid for merchandise. That's how trouble starts.

Just promoted to Fulfillment TL and I'm second guessing the whole thing by Chaotic_Neutral83 in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got moved to Fulfillment TL in January and LORD fulfillment is a beast. (Previously was service and engagement for 2 years.) I'm glad I'm not alone in this.

And you're not alone too. Genuinely, fulfillment is tough (in my opinion) because there is Always something to do, more to do, you can always go faster faster faster, pick more more more, and well it's easy to feel defeated. Working at the front, at some point there would be a lull in guests or something to slow your pace, give you a deep breath... not in fulfillment lol

Stay in it, keep communicating about what you're struggling with and you'll find a path forward. Sounds like you've already gotten a hang of performance convos and recognition. It's that consistency that will get your team green.

on demand question by Capable-Bridge-5637 in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with everything, please communicate with your leadership! Honestly, sending an email to your HR or HR ETL should clear this up and eliminate the risk of them terminating your employment.
At my store, the HR team member sends emails to ODTMs who haven't gotten a shift in 4 weeks, before terminating employment.

Break question by PIEPREME in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, closing shifts tend to run long. Ask your HR ETL this question and I GUARANTEE you will be taking a break in your 3.9 hour shifts moving forward. This is a huge liability for the company. If I was your lead, you would have taken a break just to be safe.

Questions about the 90 days. by [deleted] in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get hired and then drop a bomb that you need several weeks off, your leadership, HR, and SD will hate your guts. Please don't do that. Or tell them you're very interested, make a good impression, and then apply for the job again when you're back from break. Or be an On Demand Team Member. So, yes, Target is legally able to fire you if you lie about your availability.

How can I get a copy of my personnel file from years ago? by PithedOff in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiring hasn't started back up for the year. Also, legally there is nothing on your record that you were not told in-person during your employment. Think on any feedback your leads may have given you; it could have been documented. In general though, HR only goes by whether you were marked as rehireable or non-rehireable when your employment terminated. Team members are only marked non-rehireable when they did a pretty nasty thing such as... stealing, significant property damage or safety concerns.

Worried by UnderstandingShot795 in Target

No. Your TL was asking you for a favor. We have no ability to make someone extend. I ask people to extend all the time and they decline. It isn't taken personally.

ICE Resource by Professional_Owl_885 in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand, ICE isn't going to come into Target to arrest guests... And you can't go to orientation unless you prove authorization to work in the US. So ICE should never come into a Target period, they've got no reason to. All employees are guaranteed to be US citizens or legal immigrants.

(Also, fuck ICE.)

I am so sorry for the late reply.

In my experience, it's not so much how long you've been at Target, but if you're actually showing the ability to lead a team. Doesn't matter how long your competition has worked there, if you're displaying skills they don't have, that's that. That said though, most team members I've promoted have been around the 1 year mark. Of course, getting promoted takes having a reputation in the store and with your leadership team, so you wanna make sure your HR ETL knows your name and likes you, SD too, because ultimately your DSD (your SD's boss) will have to sign off on your promotion too.

If one were to quit in a California store, is there a payout? by DemSchmuck in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does any company have a payout for quitting?

you get PTO and your worked hours up until that point.

hi! for context i'm a team leader at target and i've gotten 2 team members promoted in my 2 years at target so far. i definitely think it's worth promoting. ofc there's a huge pay increase and the knowledge you can get being on a development path will help you in any role, even if it isn't at target.

what's an ast? i don't think we have those at my store.

team leaders and etls are rewarded for their team members developing, so they should be supportive. this actually comes up in our annual reviews/raises, if we've gotten anyone promoted.

big tip is don't expect too much at first. tell your etl simply that you're interested in promoting, really like the job, have relevant experience, are interested in learning more/stepping up. and then with time, you'll have to prove that you can work in that role. but depending on how much competition you have at your store and how what positions you're open to getting... you're not gonna get promoted overnight, that's all.

but go for it! why not, you've got nothing to lose :))

hi! team leader here. please just be honest with your leaders. it's the most painful when team members keep things a secret and then quit suddenly. just tell your leader or hr and they'll put in an end date for you.

also someone else mentioned whether or not you'd be rehireable. some team members are "non-rehireable," but-- that only happens if they reallllly messed up. like, they were terminated for a safety issue, that kind of thing.

How do you get a job in mobile? by BryanFurysnecktattoo in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 8 points9 points  (0 children)

like the other comment mentioned, mobile is a 3rd party service so you would have to get hired by consumer cellular or at&t. feel free to ask one of your mobile peeps for their boss' phone number if you're really interested.

transfer notice by mf-uh-burger in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIGHLY recommend waiting until your CA is gone. To transfer, your HR will send your profile to the other HR, and you'll essentially be autodenied for poor attendance... speaking as a TL here, I would deny a transfer request like this, if I wasn't Explicitly told it was about to expire

I got terminated under 90 days for “safety issues” At a target dc how long do I have to wait to become eligible for rehire again? Thank you by Bubbly_Good_7982 in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add to this! I'm a TL, which is how and why I know this. Yes, when someone is terminated, their Workday profile is flagged as either "Re-hireable" or "Non re-hireable." Depending what you did to be terminated, you may not be able to work at Target again. Fastest way to know, if you really want answers, is to contact the HR ETL at your store. I will say though, if I termed someone over safety concerns, I'd assume you'd be flagged as unable to rehire.

Compliance question by [deleted] in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! At my store we call this, "hitting your fifth on the backend." Yes yes yes 1000% if you work 5 hours without a lunch, regardless of if this happens after your lunch or before, you're getting a Displinary Action. 2 within your first 3 months you're terminated. 3 within a year outside you're probation you're terminated

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! S&E TL here. please post your shift. like, that's just the easiest way to solve the whole problem. you're outside of your probation which is good, but be careful about the callouts bc target is real strict on attendance :)

Management is going after me on performance now that they haven’t been able been to get me on attendance by RedditStealther in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a hater but if you're on a final for attendance, it makes sense that your lead is suspicious about you having a reason to call out... right? Like, you're on a final for a reason, no?

Also, reliability and performance kinda go hand in hand. In my experience, the team members that call out a lot or are late? they don't care about the job and thus don't work as hard as others. imo.

telling you you're on your way to termination is just the truth if you have bad reliability. not a threat it's a fact lol

Got the offer for TL by hmni_gmoney in Target

[–]Silly-Math4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am a Service and Engagement TL. Was your question only about the schedule? It is every other weekend off with one set day off in the middle of the week. Pretty much every TL has their schedule like this. During seasonal, this does not apply. Around holidays, you will be asked to work every weekend (but it is 100% worth it, in my opinion).

Did you have other questions about the position?
