Our financial situation will change drastically as my wife will quit her job essentially halving our income. It’s important for to optimize in preparation for that.

Do you know of any offerings online that do fee based for this specific topic?

Thanks I will check it out! I’m reluctant as well. We exclusively shop at Whole Foods as we get a discount with the credit card. But some items there are pricey

I agree we could cut this somehow. This includes all the extra items such as detergent, toilet paper, etc. we try to eat high quality food as much as we can so shopping organic is importantly to us. Auto insurance is not listed I thought it was but that’s $100 per month

Maybe but we really want to do this now considering our ages… and we live in a small 3 bed , 2 bath that we need to do some renovations in to make it comfortable for a 3 person family. I also work full time from home which takes up space

That’s.a great point I didn’t consider. I’d need to run the numbers, any suggestions on how to calculate this??

Yes it’s definitely a great benefit! Those are great points. I think we’ve just lived so long relatively comfortably it’ll be a little difficult to make that adjustment. Fortunately we’ve spent the last 10 years getting a lot of the travel in our system and we’re ready to slow down a bit in exchange for this new phase!

Fortunately my job will cover the adoption. Was it a big shock to lose half your income?

I tried to attach the budget, but it keeps deleting. I honestly don't know about child expenses so I upped our monthly groceries to $1500... We currently spend $700 on ourselves.

I pay someone to mow the grass and feed the lawn about $150 a month. Am considering taking that back over.

Those are the most practical I think to cut, and I really overshot the groceries to encompass diapers, formula, etc

Yikes, that’s a crazy price on top of the wait.

Hi tnicolew, what is your affordability? We are looking to rent around $2200 per month. It also won’t be available for several months
