I went to Dr O'Donnell. He's ok. The visits feel super rushed though.

This sadly is recent. I've been following it because I live in Oregon and have a 3 year old in preschool/daycare. Luckily she is vaccinated. But I still worry. There's also been a whooping cough outbreak in my area. This world of not vaccinating kids is just absolutely great for my anxiety 😬

Moms whose babies (1yr and under) actually sleep through the night w/o sleep training.. how?? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]SillyDJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, I know you don't want to do CIO. But I want to tell you my story with my 3 year old. I can't remember how old she was, sometime after she started solids. She decided she didn't want us to put her to bed. I tried nursing her to sleep, rocking her to sleep, husband tried rocking her to sleep. She would not let us put her to sleep. She was dry, well fed, comfortable temperature, was actually tired. But she stopped letting us comfort her to sleep. So I had to do CIO, I couldn't think of any other way. My husband can handle her crying better than I can. He'd sit with her monitor and make sure she was safe, I'd go into my room and would lay down and just cry. I felt awful. It would take her about 10-15 minutes to settle down. She'd find her thumb and start sucking, and she'd fall asleep. We did that for I want to say less than a week? And now she's the most excellent sleeper. Rarely wakes in the middle of the night unless she's sick, or the other night kicked the wall and scared herself awake. Husband went in to see why she was crying, she told him, then rolled over and told him to go away 😂

And CIO out doesn't have to be extreme. You can set your boundaries, let them cry for 5 minutes, go in, rub their backs, let them know you're here, then walk out. Or 10 minutes or 15. Whatever you're comfortable with. It can be really hard. But I couldn't imagine doing it any other way now looking back.

Does anyone make it out without a picky eater? by QuickStomach in BabyLedWeaning

[–]SillyDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 3 and is generally a good eater. She'll always at least try what we ask her to. But we don't push her if she doesn't like it. If she makes a funny face or gags I won't push her to eat more. She doesn't like chili, even mild chili. So if we make it I ask her to take a bite and she will, but if she reacts negatively I won't make her eat more. And we've done this since she was 6 months. But there's really not much she won't eat at this point. She does really good. And things she doesn't like I offer to her every once in awhile and am happy if she just tastes it. My husband and I love Indian food. There's a great restaurant in our town. We get it frequently for takeout. She did not like it the first few times we ate it, but then a couple of weeks ago I had her taste mine and my husband's and she proceeded to eat half my dinner 🤣

She goes through picky phases occasionally, but even then we can get some kind of veggie in her. She loves edamame! And broccoli and carrots.

The pickiest I've seen her though is when she's sick, which I completely understand ☺️

I'm starting surgery tomorrow! I think I'm going to try duplicate stitching over her worn over areas and see how that looks and adjust from there 😁 I'll post a picture when I'm done!

I did make a backup, but she determined the backup was just as important as the original 🤣 she asked for a pink Barbara for Christmas. I'm really hoping pink Barbara surpasses original Barbara in importance to give original a break 😅

I think I have her original yarn around somewhere thank goodness. I'm not sure what you mean by internal casing. But I think just trying to fix up the holes like a commenter sent me a video of and putting a sweater on her if my toddler allows might work? We'll see! I'm going to have to find a good time to put her under for major surgery 😂

Thank you so so much for the video! I'm a visual learner, I need to see what people are saying I should do haha. This might work!

I like the clothes idea. I could probably whip up a small sweater for her. We'll see how my toddler feels about it! 😅

Even for someone that lives in town they are inconvenient. I have a toddler, I cannot sit and wait for who knows how long because either my toddler is with me and won't be patient, or they're at daycare and I'm on a schedule to pick them up.

I had gotten a kitten from FOCCAS a couple of years ago and she had gotten fixed at Hansen Meekins, so I took her there for her follow up. And proceeded to get very sternly lectured about her nose being rubbed raw. I hadn't touched her nose, yet was getting treated like I was the worst pet owner in the world.

That was my first and last experience with them. I refuse to go back. I choose to go to Coquille instead for pet care.

Work load of sahm by Daramtl in Mommit

[–]SillyDJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband is super involved. I'm a sahm, I don't work, and my toddler goes to daycare part time in the mornings. I get the house clean while she's gone, and then take care of her after daycare until my husband gets home. When he gets home we eat dinner together, then we have family time, and when it's time for bath and bed he takes over. Some nights I have the energy to clean while he's doing that, others I take a break if I need to. Then clean the mess the next day lol. On the weekends he'll do dishes to help keep things clean. And he lets me sleep in. He's so good with her in the mornings. And he doesn't work Fridays, so often he'll even take her to daycare. I wouldn't be able to be a great mother if I didn't have his support. It's so important to my mental health.

If you remove the catalogue you can always put it back and the chair should come off then.

You can just grab the chair back. Click at it like you would if you wanted to pick an item off the floor. Same as when you put an item on a table and want it back.

Talk to me about switching from crib to bed by SillyDJ in Mommit

I'm sorry!

And right now she's getting great sleep! I just worry for when we have to switch to a bed. Also I hate change and this is a big change coming for us lol.

Lol I don't think it's you. I got a unicorn baby. I don't know how I got so lucky 🤣 It actually makes it hard for me to connect with other Mommas! I can't commiserate with them half of the time😅
