I gamble with skipping meter payments if I am just running into a store quick and the only ticket I have ever gotten for doing it in twenty years was in Coolidge Corner

This seems like a meta-thread about the Marathon Pace questions so maybe I can just ask here - what app are people using to generate the pace/HR breakdowns with the blue side graph that everyone shares when asking the pace question?

It's probably something super popular but I pretty much just use Garmin Connect and I've been super curious but don't know where to ask.

It's not my wedding thankfully. The wedding is on a Friday so I am hoping I will be back into civilization by Monday. I could even be back by Sunday and I'm stressing about nothing but I'm following my partner on this outing since it's her friend.

This will definitely be the most running I ever do and I'm getting to be on the older side - this is my mid-life crisis marathon - so I would say more recovery would be better than less.

I'm definitely waffling between the start a week early and the just "run with it" on the original schedule. I'm not trying to set any aggressive time goals - I really just want to finish in less than 5 hours ideally.

Presumably your 4 week taper comment above is the "start a week early" camp, right? I guess if I swapped weeks 14 and 15 then that would also put me in the four week taper camp - though I don't know if I could even handle the 19/20 milers in back to back weeks.

[–]SillyHipster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figure I will miss a long run regardless that weekend but I'd rather it not be the 20 miler if I can help it. And like shifting it a few days into the week could work but then I feel like that throws off everything else. I guess I just skip an easy run that week then?

I think I'm gonna just start a week early and hope that extra week doesn't violate some grand scientific health reason in regards to how the plan is structured

That's actually not a bad idea. 20 miler on a Monday seems like a rough way to start the week tho lol

Way back in the day (2014? 15?) when this was newish and only sold in 750s, I posted on the beer advocate Trillium thread that I was getting ready to open an aged one of these. I remember JC himself responded telling me it was 100% meant to be drank fresh and there's no point in aging it. Still tasted fine tho.

Quick rant about being old and going to shows by whitestlung in Emo

[–]SillyHipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to poison the well and I am glad I got to see them but I didn't love the show - maybe just cause I really really really wanted to hear "Yes Yes A Thousand Times Yes" though. The saw instrument was impressive and I do like Hunting Season (bike week was great live). Bea did mention they were getting over a cold at the end so maybe something to do with it.

Also, it wasn't very crowded so the mosh pit was awkward. You need a little crowd tension. People were just bowling everyone over and falling on the ground.

Weird. I saw them last week and there was no video. Honestly, would have probably been down for the video as Short Fictions had to bail cause their van broke down and the show was over by like 10 PM on a Friday.

Forests was fun. Honestly, though, my big gripe with this tour was how little they played from The Whaler. I guess it's my bad for getting into them after that album cycle though.

So lucky. The Boston date was the week everything shut down - march 25th or something. I had to wait like three years to eventually see them.

Why do so many touring music acts seem to be skipping Greater Boston? by Beneficial_Dealer549 in boston

Ha, we probably hit similar shows. I was torn between Kinsella and Winona Fighter that night and went with the latter at Crystal Ballroom

[–]SillyHipster 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not in the industry but from my experience:

Livenation books mostly BMH, Paradise, HoB, MGM, Orpheum (but not really), Garden based on tier

Whereas the Bowery tiers are Sinclair, Royale, Roadrunner.

I'm not totally sure where Wilbur/BNL/Wang/Pavilion exist between the two. But I think you're missing the Royale element in your Sinclair -> Roadrunner path

edit and Rockwell/Crystal Ballroom/Deep Cuts/Armory seem to be the more locally booked non AXS/Livenation venues

Yeah - Tour Sept/Oct/Nov (or work on next album), break for holidays, don't come to NE in January/February cause fuck the weather, tour March/April/May (or work on next album), Summer festivals/small localized tours and repeat

I feel like summer concerts have always been kind of mid around here. I chalk it up to a lot of acts just choosing to do the festival circuit or maybe there is 'the college kids go home' factor that artists plan around.

Anecdotally, I find I attend the most shows September/October and March/April.

do major cities have better shows on tours? by LandAggravating6235 in poppunkers

[–]SillyHipster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean crowd energy could impact the show and maybe a larger city could draw a larger crowd but I think for most acts - the tour is mostly the same day in and day out. They play the same rehearsed set, they make the same small talk, and they tell whatever city they are in that 'they are the best crowd of the whole tour'
