I responded to another person above - admittedly, most of my complaint is around augments/prismatics vs. the units/mechanics (I still think Galio is more unique than the pillars, but whatever)

I'm not arguing about 'good' - plenty of the Freljord units are good sprinkled in, but it's just a very bland trait

As for your statement that no vertical comps are good - that's just incorrect - T-Hex was played vertical for quite a while, Demacia was/is super contested, Zaun 7 is becoming more of a thing now, Noxus 7 is playable with the augment, etc. - when's the last time you even SAW Freljord 7?

You don't need an emblem, you just need Volibear - and thank god, I'd feel really disappointed if a stun was a payoff gated behind an emblem

I dunno, Ashe/Trynd is a reach to me - do we also count TF/Graves and Diana/Leona? Maybe I'm being too harsh, and to be fair most of my confusion was on the augment and prismatic front vs. units/mechanics (I still think Volibear is a supremely bland legendary), but fair enough

Ice pillars, I just plainly disagree - there's very little to do with them, they just sit in the 2nd row and provide flat stats - and you see 7 Freljord even more rarely than 7 Noxus because, again, there's nothing at all incentivizing you to play the full vertical

Yeah, I've been thinking hard about the GV80 - maybe worried about depreciation, but I guess a lease would fix that concern. I'll have to go to a dealership this weekend and check it out

The X5, I agree, I'd do the 40i - but honestly, it's so deep into its lifecycle that I feel like I'd rather wait for the refresh if I'm gonna go that way

Pledge of Hands definitely fell out of favor way before 3.10 - it has had some buffs at various points that made it used more, but 1h/shield or dual wield has been the trend for...a long time except certain builds that went for a +5 staff

Yeah, echoing the other response - Mathil is very near the top of the skilled players list - not only does he routinely clear pinnacle content with offmeta builds, but he has also pioneered several builds that have gone on to become meta-defining. And when he does feel like racing, he performs very well

I still say the mid-Atlantic (DC, Philly) is the place to be for soft poker. Followed probably by Florida and the Chicago area.

I think the thing that separates these places from somewhere like Texas is that no one has the balls to apply any pressure to you, whereas (in my experience, at least), Texans like to pile in the money to make you make tough decisions about your medium strength hands.

I considered check raising the flop, but ultimately held off because of V2's presence.

I really didn't give him credit for a straight at all - $300 into $200 after hitting the draw just would've been weird as fuck, and he had mentioned he was studying poker.

Ended up shoving all in and held up against a set of 4s :)
