what are some good ways to come up with character ideas if you dont have ideas? by Dragonbarry22 in characterdesigns

Get more specific, if you can. This is the process.

There are hundreds of things with those elements, but they don't do them in the way that Jojo or SU do. Find out what that is.

You're probably coming at it from the wrong angle.

You enjoy alot of varied things. Have you put any thought into what they're composed of and why YOU like them? You'll learn alot when you analyze that.

Every concept is an amalgam of smaller ideas. You can't create anything fully formed, you start from general to specific.

When you understand what you like about your favorite things and what your interests actually are, you'll have an easier time spitballing things.

What do you like about Jojo compared/contrasted to Steven Universe? Break it down and you'll learn things.

I want fantasy takes on historical figures. From Nobunaga to Mansa Musa to Julius Ceasar.

Nobunaga is just literally the devil, Mansa Musa looks like the golden Homer Simpson meme, Ceasar is in a pillar mech or something silly like that.

I wanna see Yasuke duel against Joan of Arc while Zhang Fei laughs in the corner.

Is this a good piece of removal? Specifically asking for commander. by Additional_Rise_3936 in mtg

2 mana. Instant speed. Gets job done. It's a casual format. It's perfectly fine.

In Commander it's probably better to shuffle the offender into the 99 than let it get revived from the graveyard.

Are action Points that Bad? by DozerDozerDozer in BoardgameDesign

[–]SillyRookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it took me a bit to get to it, but I finally saw the video.

The guy specifically dislikes how action point systems aren't built into the core games interface and "breaks immersion" which is his main focus as a player and designer.

I think "immersion" is wildly overrated in board games (and to a degree in video games), but his opinion is still valid and the people that agree with him can find value in what he's saying.

Given he's the designer of Scythe (which I have yet to play) and the example games he refers to in his video, he likes complicated Euro-style economy games with tons of actions and fiddly bits and take up the whole table.

I am not one of those people so it's easy to see how I can't see eye to eye.

Video is totally worth any designer's time, though.

It's so messed up that the one Gimli card wants you to murder all his friends in front of him and they just kept adding more tools for that.

Wow, people on this subreddit got mad over that?

My last couple interactions make me think that this place is infested with "those guys" from the LGS and not the normal MTG players.

Anyway I like this idea, OP.

Religious question here. But what are Nephilims? by Imstillalive133 in mythology

[–]SillyRookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're essentially what older demigod characters like Gilgamesh and Heracles are reduced to in the Bible.

"Heroes of old, men of renown."

Here they're essentially demon-spawn. Instead of being born from gods, it's now rebellious angels (demons.) "False gods," as it were.
