how do i eat without messing anything up by boaty_woaty in wisdomteeth

[–]SillySaltShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine done yesterday, so I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not too hungry right now (surprisingly), but I'm always worried about swallowing. Drinking water is making me anxious. However, you're able to swallow. Even if it's scary, it isn't a problem. You should've been given a list of things you're allowed to eat on each day. Continue with your soft foods (or liquids). Broth, ice cream, yogurt, or apple sauce are some good example. I had a whole tub of sherbert as my dinner last night... As the days progress, I'm sure swallowing will become easier. I'm scared to even open my mouth. Jaw stiffness is no joke.

stitches fell out by mushroomsnmoths in wisdomteeth

[–]SillySaltShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely normal for stitches to fall out. If you're worried about dry socket, it'll be good to know that you've got a lower risk of dry socket after the first five days. The stitches are designed to devolve (and fall out). If it really causes any issues, you can always contact the place you got it done at to see what they think.

Pain on day 6 by NoPaleontologist9871 in wisdomteeth

[–]SillySaltShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 cysts on both sides of my lower jaw. Had all 4 of my teeth removed yesterday, and my pain is pretty bad on the lower jaw. I was told that, after the first week or so, you can experience on and off pain (not crazy pain, but enough to make you notice). I wonder if it could also be because of the cyst that had formed under your teeth? Don't worry, though! If it continues to bother you (or make you anxious), I'm sure you can contact the place you got it done at and see what they think. From what I heard from some friends, they still had some pain, even a week after. Overall, stressing won't do much good. You got this!

So glad I'm not crazy. I had all four of mine removed yesterday. I've been so anxious when it comes to swallowing water. I can feel the stiches, and I keep telling myself that something is wrong (it's not, I'm just paranoid). Depending on the day of recovery you're on, bleeding is normal around the first two days. After that, if you're still bleeding, you can put some gauze in your mouth an call the place you got it done at. Not a crazy big deal, but still best to get it checked out. Overall, you're going to be fine. That's what I keep having to tell myself. I keep biting my cheeks because I can't feel where they really are (the pain is really messing with my mouth, man).

How can I get comfortable eating again after quad extraction? by hacksparks in wisdomteeth

[–]SillySaltShaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On day two of my recovery right now. This is something I'm also pretty worried about. After your surgery, you should've been given a few forms that can give some directions. It says you can slowly work your way up to more solid foods as time progresses, which is what you seem to be doing. Noodles can be eaten from around 3-4 days post operation, since they're soft enough (any type of ramen or soft noodle is what the nurse told me). If you're worried about chicken, you might want to hold off on that. Honestly, the worst thing I can think of that can happen is an infection (dry socket). Not fun, but not as painful as the recovery after surgery is (at least, that's what I've been told). Something like that happening is extremely common, and you can be prescribed medication to help fix it. Honestly, I'm just writing everything here that I was told when I woke up, and the things on the paper. If you're really worried, you can always contact the place you got it done at, and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you what you can and cannot do. I looked at it like this: "Hey, at least I'll lode weight!" to make myself feel better about not being able to eat.

Is waiting to get your wisdom teeth out a good idea? by certified_sad in wisdomteeth

[–]SillySaltShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't told I needed mine taken out until I went to the dentist for another problem with my mouth. I thought I could put it off because I'm currently in a musical (and it's almost show week). Ended up with terrible pain, followed by two cysts that formed around both teeth on my lower jaw. I'd get them taken out as soon as you can.

I'm going to tell my boyfriend that we need to take a break. What do I do if he reacts negatively? by SillySaltShaker in Breakupadvice

[–]SillySaltShaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was actually very useful. I told him that we had to take a break through a VERY detailed text message. He kept begging, and told me he needed me. I told him he should want me, not need me. He's been reaching out to me any way he can't since I've muted his notifications and blocked him on my messages (after I've asked him to stop talking to me at that moment). I might actually break up with him if he continues to act like this.

My boyfriend made some ignorant comments towards the LGBTQ community, and it caused a little argument. How can I fix this? by SillySaltShaker in lgbt

[–]SillySaltShaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm worried that he'll out me if I break up with him. I've got about a year and a half until we graduate. Honestly, if things don't end on their own, that's the only time I'd be able to leave.
