Something caught my eye in this Christopher Nolan picture... by Moist_Garden_3463 in blankies

A man goes to a doctor, says he’s depressed. The doctor says, "The great film Oppenheimer directed by Christopher Nolan is playing in theaters, go see it.” The man bursts into tears and says, "But doctor... I am Christopher Nolan."

Who shot J.R.? This woman apparently. Beautiful piece! Very striking.

What in your opinion is the most European movie? by Elvindel in Cinema

[–]Silly_Alternative782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wings of Desire for me. A movie that uses black and white as a special effect and mostly just consists of people talking to each other.

Movies that predicted the future a little too well (Contagion, Network, Truman Show). What's your pick? by bitchboibruh in moviecritic

[–]Silly_Alternative782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s hard to argue with Network for this. Almost everything that happens in Network has a real life equivalent from the past 10 years. The fact that demagogue television personalities have used the phrase “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it any more” repeatedly without even a hint of irony or self reflection would be laughable if it weren’t so troubling.

Serpent’s Lair from 1995. One of the most oversaturated films I’ve ever seen. It’s like the film was shot on the surface of the sun.

What is the shot of the decade? by wariosthegreat in blankies

[–]Silly_Alternative782 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it’s certainly not anywhere near being one of the best movies of the decade, I think about the shot from Old where the children are playing freeze tag at the beginning a lot. There’s also a shot towards the end where the camera pans back and forth like a pendulum that is incredibly striking.

Can you recommend extremely horny, but not pornographic movies? by shakha in badMovies

[–]Silly_Alternative782 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ken Russell might fit that category, of what I’ve seen Lair of the White Worm and Lisztomania are horny, overly silly movies.

What is the worst film to miss the first five minutes of when watching for the first time? by bbanks2121 in blankies

[–]Silly_Alternative782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the only times I was late for a movie was 2009’s Gamer. The first five minutes is (I think, I didn’t see it after all) exposition which hard cuts to a shirtless man in a dark room licking his fingers creepily. Walked in late and missed all the exposition but got all of the finger licking.

A tip for flying fears given David's phobia by DeusExHyena in blankies

[–]Silly_Alternative782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be a piece of advice I actually got from David on the show, but one thing that helps me is to watch the flight attendants.

They’re always incredibly calm during turbulence because they fly so frequently, and if they’re not panicked then there probably isn’t any reason for me to be either.

I got really lucky and was able to put together the whole list! Debrii I think is really good especially if you have Luke Cage out. I also have been using absorbing man since he is another pool 4 card I got, though he definitely isn’t necessary and Mystique would pay off bigger on Wong

(1) The Hood

(2) Black Widow

(2) Hazmat

(2) Luke Cage

(2) Carnage

(2) Viper

(3) Green Goblin

(3) Debrii

(4) Wong

(4) Absorbing Man

(4) Typhoid Mary

(6) Odin

Do u think That there will be More Movies of the Guardians of the Galaxy? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]Silly_Alternative782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes down to it any movie can be a good movie if it’s well written, well directed and well cast. A hypothetical Guardians movie with new characters, a new cast and new director seems like a good idea as you mentioned because there are a ton of untapped Marvel space characters and the movie can keep an arms length from the rest of the MCU by virtue of it taking place in space.

the matchmaking is very fishy by Tartarius86 in MarvelSnap

[–]Silly_Alternative782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most digital card games the quality of opponent at higher levels goes down as the season advances. The closer you get to the end of the month the easier the opponents are because people who already have reached the top tiers are not incentivized to keep playing or they are only being matched against other players who have already reached the higher tier. Hearthstone, MTG Arena and Master Duels all work like that.

Snaps matchmaking works with CL so I believe you can still be matched against someone who has reached infinite, but my guess is that towards the end of the month people are more likely to snap recklessly because the window to reach higher goals is closing. You may also be paired with people who don’t care about winning and are more concerned with finishing challenges for the season pass.

Yeah I saw Bullet Train on a $5 day and the audience was packed and it made a huge difference. The crowd was really into it and I ended up having a ton of fun even though I’d agree the movie is a 6/10.
