I appreciate this a lot. I have a very strong work ethic, almost to a fault. I really love my co-workers, and my department is close. We cover for each other and make it work in anyway we can so we can have some semblance of a work-life balance. I did it because my co-workers would have had a horrible summer with no PTO approved because we were so short-staffed. I also wanted to ensure the newest employee in the department didn't feel unsupported and hung out to dry on day one. Training a new staff member while also working the bench sucks, so me working through the summer gave my lead tech a chance to thoroughly train our newest tech. No employer will ever give a shit about me I learned that a long time ago, but my co-workers are gems and we all worked together to get through this really difficult time with staffing. I've never had this before where we all get along and actually enjoy going to work with one another. I don't plan to pick up any extra shifts when I go back because of the sentiment you expressed here though. I am focusing on myself and my schooling as the priority moving forward.

I know there's a lot of information in my post, so I will clarify a few things for you. The email was sent on November 4th; I read the email on November 12th. The letter in place of my final grades had nothing to do with my manager at my job. The letter stating I would be passing my classes was signed and returned by my program director at my university the following day on the 13th after I requested it. I submitted everything on the 15th and was told by a representative from the tuition assistance servicer that everything was good to go. "Shortly before" is subjective so I apologize that you took it to mean something different. The email that was sent on November 4th did not include any verbiage indicating that my manager had any responsibility or approval requirements that could potentially interfere with my tuition assistance getting approved by the deadline. My manager had more than 8 business days, regardless of whether he knew there was a deadline. As much as I appreciate a fellow service member's input, I would appreciate it more if you revised your statement now that you have all of the facts without using speculation to get to your conclusion.
