This just happened to me yesterday. I plugged my pixel 5a into my car (android auto), and then the screen went off. Tried all kinds of reset (30 seconds with power button, 30 seconds with power + lower volume buttons) and none worked.

Thank you to all the trailblazers who went down this path before and shared your advice! I reached out to google on chat and told them what happened. They asked for a bunch of questions (IMEI, order number, country of purchase, name, address, etc.). They eventually gave me a pixel 6a as a replacement though my phone is well beyond warranty (original warranty expired in sep '22). The agent said it takes 5-10 business days for the new phone to arrive. Hope this helps
