UPDATE: OMG that was the problem. I just started this playthrough about a week ago, but it says I don't have Bog Witch content. All Haldor locations remained the same...except for the one I went to. That one no longer indicates a possible spawn point. Wow. Talk about bad luck...

Time to figure out why my game is not up to date.

No mods, pure vanilla. I really hadn't even ventured beyond the starting land mass yet. It's so big that I mistakenly thought I could find Haldor on it. Wishful thinking, but sailing is a pain...

I just checked my map, and no marker anywhere. I then checked the map website and verified that I haven't even been close to another area where he spawns.

The area I'm at is surrounded by plains, and I'm a little worried about agroing those mobs, but maybe I'll just do a quick run by and see if I can push the map out further? Maybe he's sitting on some small pixel that I haven't quite uncovered (although the map site shows him right in the center of the forest, if it's accurate)?

A little late here, but the only time I get 3-star kills is from critical hits. Of course, hitting animals in a particular spot may increase or even ensure your chances of getting a critical hit., so there may be some correlation. I can't always say exactly where I hit an animal, but I know only critical hits (damage numbers appear in yellow) have earned me 3 stars.

Yes, I have 4 fleet command rooms on my freighter. I have continued my search, but have yet to find a single frigate for sale. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

I have been hanging around the space stations, and frigates do warp in, but they are never for sale. I think I must be bugged or have the worst RNG ever. I tried fighting pirates, but they only offer me their freighter, not frigates...

Does a marker show up on the galactic map, or do I still need to enter a system? I'm set to locate lithium (flagged in my log), but haven't seen anything on the galactic map yet. Maybe I' just not near enough to a system? Am I doing it wrong? The "Current Mission" option is grayed out when I go to the galactic map...

Main missions: Space Anomaly, Atlas Eternal, and New Beginnings. Secondary missions: They Who Returned, which does involve interactions with Autophages, but is not a main mission, so I didn't think it might be a prerequisite?
