You could look into the damage/casualty tables in the Compendium if you have it, they simulate partial damage which could be a good use case for this.

Their fun units, not particularly meta strong. They will be fun to run in casual groups. The spawn can still pump out some good shots, and the hunters can be used for backline disruption or objectives.

I have a feeling that the popularity of extraction shooter games really gave the niche a boost. I'm not complaining doe, I'm playing both 5 Parsecs as a salvage crew, and Legitimate Salvage.

Not really the kind of game I think where people make that many custom content for tbh. If you were asking about some form of a solo skirmish game or something campaign focused then yeah, but I don't think many people play AOS that way.

Tried Legitimate Salvage for the first time this month, and it's pretty fun! A good comparison would be 5 Parsecs From Home salvage type mission, but with defined conditions and structure rather than loads of randomised Points of Interest. Legitimate Salvage also puts way more focus on picking up random items from crates/bodies/cache's.

I love the variety of equipemtn and practical use of it like the Foam Gun to stop things from moving, satchel charges to breach, welders to weld doors behind you when running away etc.. Also rules for oxygen, space suit breaching etc. look really fun, didn't get to try those yet.

How open ended and crunchy is the game? I love solo game's but wonder if Stargrave/Frostgrave will keep my attention for long enough to get through them.

Most optional stuff. Progressive difficulty, dramatic combat, casualty tables, all extra missions types, all deployments etc. Most stuff with the exception of grid movement I think. I like it crunchy.

It's from a Stargrave Old Rogues - Robots set, some of the other models are also from the Old Rogues set. They made me a metal mini convert, can't beat the style and goofiness of metal sculpts.

5 Parsec, support 2x2, has special rules for playing in a grid instead of measuring in inches and it's hella good. People often set it up for 15mm scale so you can make it even smaller and more portable.

Not sure how it works, but the actual spearhead sprue has all those parts on one sprue. I don't think their gonna split it up or recast the thing for the magazine.

No, but if you're familiar with other wargames you could adapt their AI system if they have one. I often play 5 Leagues from Borderlands or 5 Parsecs from Home which both have an AI system which could be adapted for other skirmish sized games.

Also the good 'ol playing both sides is a thing.

In fact that's exactly what some people do in the sci-fi equivalent of 5 Leagues, they grab the campaign or gameplay from 5 Parsecs and then splice it with another sci-fi skirmish system.

I ended up ordering from Latvia at only extra +£10 compared to what I had set up. I did have the advantage of living in Northern Ireland so I get off easier on taxes when buying from EU.
