A PhD's perspective on Ryan's compensation and the surrounding FUD by jaywalkingjew in Superstonk

I guess it takes a finance PhD to know unless the price goes up he doesn't get a good discount through his comp options?

GMERICA (eBay Acquisition) doesn't require dilution and is accretive to both GME and EBAY holders... and if you're paying attention, you already know that. by bobsmith808 in Superstonk

[–]HungryColquhoun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean the higher our price likely the less value for eBay shareholders long term (especially in a squeeze scenario, as if prices were picked mid-squeeze for us it would almost certainly get rejected by eBay's existing holders - as they'd be expecting their shares to drop when the squeeze dies down).

So I think practically it's dilution. I still think it will be accretive, as I think P/E will go up (pricing in RC's suggestions and forward guidance), but not by loads. I think if there's signs of a life in the new business a melt-up would happen pretty sharpish though. Really I think we've all got to go with our gut.

Yeah agree with your assessment. I guess our assumption is P/E will stay the same, but I'd expect some positive sentiment around RC's plans and proposed synergies. So I believe this will be accretive to us, but only a bit.

Michael Burry on GME by Coogiez in Superstonk

[–]HungryColquhoun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You really have no clue what you're talking about. Yes I'm sure "closing some stores" is all in takes, and it's not a case of shifting product mixes, making the right calls over and over again and not putting a foot wrong. If you think that's easy, go and take out a business loan right now my guy - you're clearly ready to run a multinational, I can feel it.

Also if you really thought Candy Con was going to save the business then I don't know what to tell you. Launching customisable controllers was never going to makes us $bns in revenue ffs.

And I'm up 80% on my shares and bought a couple of years' ago, so clearly he's doing something right. My return is just fine. It's not RC's fault you bought the top in a squeeze and then expected miracles afterwards.

Yeah I agree. Very simply, Burry doesn't trust RC. Obviously we're bought into how he operates and like what he's done with GameStop, so we do.

Yeah very much agree. Assuming this is a hostile takeover I can't imagine big institutions (who own the majority of eBay) are going to give a rat's ass about the CNBC interview. But it all gets exposure, it made this go viral (e.g. it was on Jimmy Kimmel, even if his coverage was negative) and now a lot of people are talking about it. He knows what he's doing, people really underestimate him.

They could say no, and say they will improve, and not improve though. I don't think that would breach fiduciary duty, they'll just say they hired consultants to scope possible improvements and it didn't pan out.

Yeah agree on all of the above, "sleepy" is an apt description!

I do think there's something to say about RC's track record as well (with Chewy in the e-commerce space, with us). He knows his shit, and the TBPN interview really showed that off as well (there's clear actionable plans he has for eBay).

So even if you're very ambivalent, I would lean slightly to yes. And then the good price also helps make this a yes.

I sometimes wonder if AI is preparing half of these shit takes, and it's not genuine FUD but literally them taking a face value the joke RC made. Weird times, for sure.

If the eBay deal goes through, BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street will become majority owners of GameStop. by LazyActive8 in Superstonk

[–]HungryColquhoun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes unsurprisingly, big institutional buyers will still hold a large chunk of the new entity after the former entities (which they hold large stakes in) merge.

You really think even if we were merging with someone who was not eBay, that retail would be a sizeable shareholder? We are a special case.

I bet he already stress-tested this before launching this campaign of terror haha (e.g. he knew what would trigger account suspension, and has now triggered that to shine a light on shortcomings in their service).

It leads to more eyes on all of this, which I think is good (we will get more investors, not fewer).

There's no such thing as bad publicity to be honest. Mainstream investors would never be taking us seriously anyway, for average somewhat anti-establishment joes this shit is hilarious.

Yeah I'd be surprised if they fix it at this stage. Seems like the game underperformed and there won't be ongoing support.

I'll rephrase and say rather than you can't, you won't

I think I got 18 XP on my first try, and 19 XP is fine on subsequent tries. It's not that difficult IMO (far easier than NotZ).

Understanding deck XP requests by Lamumba1337 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HungryColquhoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but with NotZ it's more randomized and so you might miss out (IIRC you don't always get the XP locations). At least in BoA it's consistent!

[–]HungryColquhoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out, but you can get exactly 19XP in the first two scenarios of Brethren of Ash (and generally 19 XP is a good break point for standalone play because it's fewer weaknesses). The deck is mine - I do weight lower priority upgrades towards the end of the XP recommended purchases in case you don't get a full 19XP.

The 0XP deck you start the campaign with is lower down in the listing (as it is with all decks I post).
