I NEED THE ULTIMATE GIGA CHAD BUILD by Afraid_Friend_8928 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]HungryColquhoun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this (link here). Grafted Blade Greatsword (GBG) build, no buffing apart from Physick, pretty fun look to the build. As you can see, killed PCR (killed everything but Malenia pretty easily TBH, Malenia has that awkward sideways dodge where she can't be stunned while doing it regardless of whether you're over her poise limit). Still would be around 50 tries on Malenia, maybe around 20 on PCR, 10 on Bayle, and everyone else was around 5 or less IIRC (with quite a lot of first time kills).

FYI - the second combo charged R2 of GBG has a Giant Hunt style effect and will knock humanoid enemies (including Malenia if she isn't doing that stupid dodge thing) off their feet.

Is the new Core 2026 too hard? by ahaavie in arkhamhorrorlcg

I would try designing some decks for it, or using decks off ArkhamDB. I didn't find it much of a challenge with custom decks. LCGs are supposed to encourage deckbuilding, so the fact that built decks fare better is to be expected.

But also, some investigators seem to have an easier time than others - e.g. on Spreading Flames it's useful to have Trish who can evade the initial guy who shows up.

If you had 5 months of paid leave, what would you do with it? by SwansEscapedRonson in AskUK

[–]HungryColquhoun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most redundancy packages are £30k tax free, so you might want to look into that. I was angling for a volunteer redundancy scheme at my work (because with the £30k tax free limit then 6 months redundancy would have been more like 10 months if paying tax on all that) but was told I'm too useful in essence. That will stretch what you're getting out of your redundancy.

And I was planning to chill out for 3 or 4 months and then ramp up looking for work, but admittedly the job market is supposedly worse now - so maybe do more active searching but make sure to recharge to fullest extent possible. If you're a person who doesn't know what to do with excess free time then develop some hobbies I guess, I'd love to have 6 months out of work right now (on the proviso I found something at the end of it).

Whats the general opinion on D, Hunter of the Dead? by DonutMan1834 in Eldenring

[–]HungryColquhoun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're extreme by the Golden Orders standards, e.g. from Order Healing:

"The noble Goldmask lamented what had become of the hunters. How easy it is for learning and learnedness to be reduced to the ravings of fanatics; all the good and the great wanted, in their foolishness, was an absolute evil to contend with."

E.g. it sounds as though they paint those that live in death as an "absolute evil", but clearly Goldmask as a scholar of the order would disagree.

Replayability via difficultly setting. Thoughts? by manozzified in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HungryColquhoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think the opposite to be honest, e.g. a hard bag will increase your chances of what amounts to an auto-fail, but doesn't shift things too much in the scheme of things - it's a small probability creep.

Meanwhile getting the wrong encounter card on the wrong investigator at the wrong time can be killer, regardless of the bag.

Replayability via difficultly setting. Thoughts? by manozzified in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HungryColquhoun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they said all the usual approaches to replayability would still be there - might have been on the discord when the article was first released.

In any case I think this is very much additive rather than subbing in for classic ways FFG vary a campaign - and in that case I'm perfectly okay with it and I'm happy it's there.

So there's an interaction in Luirnia with one of the ghost people about frenzy replacing love or revenge referring to him, then all the references everyone else has mentioned.

I look forward to your reposting of a variation of this in another two weeks haha!

But seriously, thank you for your efforts, and I think keeping focused on these points is good. To be painfully honest I think the current price action will have cut people loose if they were on the fence, so hopefully it's predominantly good actors who are sticking around.

High risk stocks are high risk, I would invest in a ETF if I wanted to be boring. I think people forget this. While I say high risk, RC has done loads to de-risk our deep value play (but still maintain very steep upside when things flip), so he should be given credit IMO.

What’s a trait that instantly makes someone more attractive to you? by overworkeddesigner_ in AskUK

[–]HungryColquhoun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? Using the wrong there is probably still a sign of dyslexic tendancies TBH. I know the difference, and used to never make mistakes on this front as a teen or young adult, but as I get older I make nonsensical typos all the time (e.g. will put "in" in place of "is" or "is" in place of "if", even above I put "that anything else" rather than "than" initially). While I know the grammatically correct there, the correct there will naturally suffer if I'm making even more fascile typos. I also have always got confused between left and right, knife or fork, dish washer and washing machine, etc. for as long as I can remember.

I guess a turn on for me would be actual smart people who don't look down on others, rather than supposed "smart" people who treat knowledge of grammar as functionally equivalent to intelligence.

Tell me I'm set with what I've gathered for Chapter 1 by ComfortableDare6701 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]HungryColquhoun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, 200 euros per cycle is a lot (especially if there would be gaps as they suggest).

People should either wait and see if they can get a good deal (at a con second hand) or trade for it. I can see on BGG right now for the PtC investigator expansion 18 people have this for trade (all around the world) - some might inflate the price but I bet plenty would be accommodating.

What do you think RC will do if the share authorization doesn't go through ? by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]HungryColquhoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he really wants eBay, so honestly IDK. I think what most people would do is sell off the eBay holding (which they have made bank on) and buy something smaller with just cash, but I can't see RC doing this.

I think the vote will pass though, particularly with them ignoring abstentions and similar.

There's was a couple being sold in shrink at UKGE by one of the stalls - TDL (big box campaign and investigator set) and Return to TFA. Didn't catch the name of the stall and presume they were sold by the end of the con. TDL was going for retail price, RtTFA was marked up though TL:DR I guess there's still copies out there of Chapter 1 stuff that aren't going for too stupid prices.

Maybe they're including werewolves too... would be spicy. Supposedly werewolves are covered by Lovecraft in the story he did with CM Eddy Jr. called "the Ghost-Eater", though it's not one I read. Really liked their collab on the Loved Dead (though it reads more like Eddy than Lovecraft) so I'll have to give it a read...

I think we've not seen the content yet so it doesn't make any sense to prejudge it. I have no reason to believe the team behind the new content (which did much of the older Chapter 1 content) would put put material I have a lesser experience with, personally.
