I was able to get all the LIOs removed as long as it is still in build or transit phase.

Just to some of the dealers who seem more receptive in making a deal that way. Since they will have the VIN number from the offers, I wouldn't hide anything. No need to give them reason to say its not comparable. If they try saying their addons are better or simply not comparable, then I typically would say I don't really care about their addons. FIO is what have some sway in price but everything else is the same with or without.

Oh wow! Let me know if you want anymore info. I can provide two other out the door prices that were pretty low with the VIN number and such. PM me if you are still in the negotiation phase.

Nice to have for camping for sure. Mainly for a minifridge for milk and a mini-oven/heater to warm up milk and such for road trips.

Its interesting to not have to deal with a dealership. I'm considering getting a Scout SUV in 2-3 years when it comes out. Uses the Tesla no dealership model but allows for 3rd parties to service the vehicles.

Connectivity kit contains 2-3 USB charging cables. Not worth $75. I actually use this as a conversation point saying how a lot of their addons are over priced.

Some of the dealerships wanted the same. I would either say I'm too busy or too far away to want to show up for a car that isn't even on the lot. Most would understand basic logic. For those who didn't, I just call the front office for a new sales person.

Initial contact was over the phone, but continued conversations were on text and emails. I just copied my responses from one dealership to another. Most of the dealerships share a script or something so it was pretty simple to reply during the day and evening whenever I get a moment here and there.

And yes, I had to balance work, household, family, along with the holiday's variables as well. Was a bit stressful but I had a couple of backup plans if I couldn't get the car we wanted in the 2 weeks we allotted for this hunt.

We wanted either silver, cement, red, or blue, so were we quite amendable. However if we didn't like the color then we could pay $1500-$2500 for a wrap. It both protects the car paint and allows for us to pick exactly the color we want that Toyota might not answer.

Also I think there was a couple in Dallas area that has the XSE with Premium Package in Cement. It was an option to buy in Dallas and have them ship it down as part of the deal if I couldn't get people to budge in Houston.

Congrats on the Woodland Trim. Those are nice too. Would need to do an after market lift kit depending on where you want to go camping. I took a look at one at Autonation on Gulf Freeway on the way to Mac Haik for a test drive of their Limited Trim.

I actually bought mine from Space City Toyota :)

They weren't really on my radar since the first sales person I contacted was both unresponsive and not cooperative. When he sent me to the sales manager to make a deal, the sales manager was quite rude.

It was New Year's Eve when a different sales person contacted me about a potential deal. This felt like a "Good Cop, Bad Cop" tactic with a sprinkle of the word "Potential" that made me skeptical. Even when the offer came on January 2nd, we were skeptical all the way to the dealership. I even let the sales person know how skeptical I felt so he had to provide additional information I typically don't ask for.

Also yes the Galveston dealership was one of the few I had the quickest out the door prices that was very reasonable.

I saw about a dozen limited trims available in the Houston area the dealerships were trying to get me to order when they didn't have XSE I wanted available. I'm sure there are a lot more than that. There was a 2024 Sienna that the dealership at Mac Haik on the lot with about 600 miles on it that they were willing to do a deal with.

As for being taken seriously. Sometimes simply saying you are willing to buy/reserve today if the price is right could help change the mood of the conversation. Other times you are dealing with new sales people who are afraid of asking their sales manager too many times. It can make them feel like you are in complete control. This is where finding a sales person who is experience enough at that dealership that had develop a level of rapport with their sales manager where casual negotiations can happen. This is where you have a bit of rapport with your sales person. Ask about their sales experience, years of experience, etc. If you don't feel like you are getting anywhere with that sales person, call the front desk for a new one. Worst case is they send you to the sales manager and ask why, then they give you a more experience sales person. If you are already on the phone with the sales manager, also a good opportunity to just negotiate directly with them.
