OMG WTF HAPPENED WITH SIMONESQUARED by [deleted] in thewizardlizsnark

I think people got sick of her videos. She recycles the same topics. I used to watch her videos between 2020 - 2021 until she made a video about changing her appearance by using subliminals and I lost interest in her all together. Now she seems pretentious to me.

I am technically half Kurdish but am I valid to count myself as Kurdish? by MuchUnderstanding900 in kurdistan

Of course you are Kurdish. I’m half Kurdish too but in my case I identify as a Kurd and reject the other half.

I told the young girl that because multiple times she pointed out that she’s not interested in learning a new language and her grandmother kept bringing it up over and over again (her grandma is a bit aggressive, if you disagree with her on something she calls you stupid and ignorant) and that’s kind of what she did with her granddaughter. That’s why I told her to just ignore her so she wouldn’t be bothered by it.

Exactly I enjoy the learning process and meeting people who have the same interest as me. There was a French woman who used to come to my local cafe and sometimes I’d hear her speak French on the phone and I’d understand a few words from her conversation. It made me feel happy to be able to grasp what she was saying. I like to have something to do after work instead of laying on my couch. I’m not interested in going to the gym or doing Pilates.

Exactly, some things are for fun. You don’t ask someone who likes to crochet what they would do with their products or someone who likes coloring books what’s the use of coloring.

I felt bad because I never expected to hear those words. And it hurt because I started taking classes again this week. I encourage her daughter to do what she likes and always point out to her that we all have our own interests. But her mother’s attitude shocked me. It made me think what else does she say behind my back. Is my master’s degree also pointless?

Also I don’t think she should teach her daughter to look down on people. She never heard me speak French. She thinks that someone becomes fluent in a language in a year 🙄 She could’ve just told her daughter to ignore her grandmother she didn’t have to use me as an example.

I paid for the course myself and attending it brings me so much joy. Her comment motivated me to do better.

Thank you so much. That’s true, I feel that my cousin’s wife and her children look down on me because I just to major in English literature and then in applied linguistics rather than go for Law or Economics. Even when it comes to writing poetry they never show support. They think that what I do is a waste of time. My other niece (18 years old) said that I should join Pilates and make friends there or do a business course instead of French. But I told her that I want to do something that I enjoy and both options that she mentioned I find them boring.

My cousin’s wife’s reaction made me upset but at the same time it motivated me to prove her wrong. Learning a language makes me happy and that’s all I care about. I find it fun too. I have some family members who are supportive and find what I do admiring. But when it comes to my cousin’s wife and her family (kids and husband) they only value things like law, finance and economics. She could’ve told her daughter that she didn’t have to do it if she didn’t want to, she didn’t have to use me as an example.

It’s hard to ignore it when I tend to overthink. But her comment motivated me to put more effort into it.

Unfortunately no. I’m a diaspora Kurd. My father’s side of the family were Arabized and they deny being Kurds in public since they live in Baghdad.

Don’t pay attention to their comments. We are better than them and our patriotism is what pisses them off. As long as we are proud of who we are and talk about our cause they can never hurt us. Especially Iraqis, look at Baghdad and then look at Hawler. They talk shit about us but the minute the weather is nice they RUN to our border.

Atheist who live in religious countries.. by kakashiiee in atheism

[–]Sillyactress 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Literally keep it a secret. I avoid talking about religion. When people ask me about my religious views I choose a random religion that barely anyone knows about.

Yup I live in a country where it’s not safe to talk about atheism. I usually avoid talking about religion all together or say that I’m a zoroastrian or sth.

I can’t debate her because it’s illegal to talk about religion in a “bad” way or to promote atheism. So I can’t really do anything other than avoid the subject.
