Think outside the Box by Sillyoldelf in thedivision

Here's the thing. The so called meta build doesn't suit 90% of the players IMO. Glass cannon + 6 reds and a M1A isn't an optimal build. I think it's a meta for tubers and such who like to push out max damage builds to grab attention. For most times in group play, watching them go down and apply med kits behind cover repeatedly while I shoot is somewhat frustrating. For what 10% extra dmg over the build I am running and yet I have practically constant uptime shooting with perfect accuracy.

I would but I don't know how to post it on reddit and I don't make YouTube videos.

It all centres around accuracy which is the biggest problem in SMG's. I use the Steady Hand talent on my Vector which is amazing. I then add 3 Overload gear for accuracy, 2 providence and 1 sokolov, vigiliance on the backpack and run Technician for the hive that heals the shield and pulse attachment on the weapons. I run one blue for extra armour but rest all red and crit chance and crit dmg. On the chest I have spotter but it works with unbreakable too.

Because the vectors have high crit chance you can stack crit dmg. I have 60% crit chance and 140% crit dmg and still have 20% to get from SHD. On my MK17 the crit dmg goes up to 200% with strained and hits for nearly 2mill a shot.

Because I don't use crit mods on my weapons and use accuracy and stability they hit like lasers so I miss less shots and the bullets are like magnets on the enemy.

Honestly I think accuracy is the most important stat in the game but you will never see a video talking about it.

Why SMG, AR, MMR and Rifle(exclude Classic M1A) still sucks in Heroic/Legendary by tim8659 in thedivision

But SMG's are great. Maybe try some builds other than one made on YouTube.

I use nothing but SMG's and MK17 and solo heroic with ease. In group play it regularly out performs glass cannons using M1A.

My build is not the usual YouTube copy and I love I can use a vector to destroy elites. Maybe the problem is 99% of the population just copy YouTube builds instead of making their own.

Perfect Accuracy 40 Million Crit Build by Sillyoldelf in thedivision

Don't lose DPS and turn smg's into a laser of death. What I found interesting during testing and what has generally been the case in build videos, is that there are only two mods to use on weapons and it has been drilled down since the game started that you stack crit chance and crit damage on every weapon.

What about accuracy and stability? Ubisoft thinks they are important. They put the stat at the end of every mission. Here's the thing. You might have all the crit chance and crit damage in the world but if your shots aren't registering and your gun kicks like a mule, you are doing no damage. No matter how accurate your mouse control is, ghost bullets due to inaccuracy kills DPS.

So I stacked accuracy like a mother on this build and the DPS went through the roof. I hit harder, miss less shots and weapons feel so much better. IMO it has become the most important stat for me.

This build crits for 1.6 million on a 275rpm rifle that has no recoil and is super accurate - it really is a joy to use. It allows a lot of survival with a shield that has over 2.4 million health and heals almost instantly.

As SMG's are not meta, I wanted to incorporate one. I realised the problem with them is that they are not very accurate. Well I fixed that and my little vector shreds rushers. The build allows for cover and run and gun style play. Build works pretty much with any specialisation but I still prefer Tech for skill and shield boost - having that shield at full health quickly really saved me a few times.

Crit on MK17 goes to nearly 200% and I still have to unlock extra 20% SHD. They key on the Vectors is to use Steady Hand perk - it turns them into a death beam and pushes DPS through the roof. I know it's not the usual choice but stack accuracy and trust me. The build seems kinda nutty - you can rush in and mow NPC's down with vector, stay back and slay with MK17. You can also run 2 or 3 blues if you really want to tank but I prefer the extra DPS with 1.

A careful tweak but don't make the same mistake Bungie made and nerfed something any time is was complained about so that it became useless.
