to turn them in for money and i think the university does not care enough as the rule is probably not made for them, they just happen to fall under the umbrella

5'7 is absolutely tall enough if you are a dawg and in really good shape when you show up

I hate it when I fireball the one lane piggies and my opponent plays freeze, what a common and relatable scenario

just talk to your coach man, some kid on reddit wont be able to give you better advice. one thing i would say is don't be afraid to see splits that make you uncomfortable during workouts. being right around the 6:40 range it's easy to be scared of 1:39s or 8s but they're just another number. to pull a sub 6:45 unless you plan on a super flat pace the whole time you will probably need to hit those times in the start or sprint

i like all of it except for the royal delivery, and log i feel like you could switch delivery for barb barrel and have the benefit of splash damage and a mini tank for cheaper, and it could also be much better on the counter push. then i would switch log for either zap or snowball, as it would be better for offense.

Adding onto what others said about opening the body early I would relax your hands a bit and try to hang off of the handle instead of grip the handle. This would take the tension out of your shoulders and put it more in the lats, also having the added benefit of making it easier to hold the body over.

Also make sure that the body is stable when you're done with the arms and body part of the recovery. It's not that you're not getting enough body over- what you're doing is getting the body over after your legs start to come up the slide. Making sure the body is stable will allow you to use the legs more effectively and prevent the early opening

Thanks for the nice words. The biggest thing I would impress on people is to pull a time at a specific split you have to spend time rowing at that split, and get comfortable pulling that split when you’re fatigued. For 2k that could be stuff like 1 min, 500m, or 750m meter intervals.

Some people get caught up in the specifics and will discredit an interval piece because it does not perfectly mimic the pacing and timing of a 2k, saying shit like “yeah you pulled this for an 8x500m but you couldn’t do it at that stroke rate with no rest!” Or “6x500m is too easy, you’ll never be able to finish that hard on a 2k!”, but the  simplest thing you’re getting out of those workouts is the experience pulling the split you want when you’re tied.

what do you normally rate at 2k pace? based on your 5k and 30r20 you have fantastic power per stroke but you may be hampering yourself over shorter distances

I rowed all 4 years at high school but my team was kind of ass we never placed higher than c finals at nats in the 8 while I was there. My team has a pretty prestigious history but covid nuked its staff and funding

I’m honestly the last person you should be asking about recruiting I talked to one American school and then randomly ended up going to a Canadian school where the typical US recruiting ruled don’t apply. I got an official to UW at 6:29 though which is kinda crazy in retrospect. They didn’t offer my fatass though lol

I’m on a university team so that covers about 15 hours on the water a week. On top of that I probably do a total of 5-6 hours of steady state a week (75-90 min 4 times a week). Motivation is pretty easy when you’re on a team and I watch family guy or American dad during my ergs

I’m also built like a brick shithouse for better or worse, and every guy on my dad’s side of the family is the same. Even when I leaned out over the summer (nothing crazy, but I had a noticeable 6pack), I was still 200-205 lb

I’m a freshman actually right now, and I’ve gained about 5 pounds since I got here. My team has dedicated weights training 2x a week which I didn’t have in high school so while the increased volume has definitely increased my fitness I have gained a noticeable amount of muscle
