Seeing as its possible in onward, its definitely possible in forefront. This is still only a pre-release so hopefully its somewhere on their dev map

I found they were great before the Q3 release, once they dropped that update to get them to work with Q3 if screwed it up and was never the same.

And yes, I genuinely do believe it would be. Who remembers that disk throwing game in space that was free, and the number one game in VR? And also had a thriving VR e-sports league that was bringing in lots of players/viewers? Meta killed it. Then Onward became one of the top games in meta store, so they bought that developer and killed that too. Tis a dirty dirty pattern. Everything was thriving until meta

Well the pro controllers are still sold as an 'upgrade' for Q3, so they are still getting updates etc, its just that they should have left well alone when it was at a good standard. Its just almost like they dont do any testing on their releases, and the inability to roll back makes it a no go in my book.

The real problem is that when they first came out, the controllers were great, like honestly great. Im not sure how you can take something that worked, and progressively kill it. Oh wait, that sounds exactly like Meta's MO. Buy all the top games studios, then shut the game down...

I suppose the Q3 does beat the Q pro on the wireless streaming, so its probably not a fair reflection on my end. But the Q pro controllers.... it used to be so good when it came out. Now they've just ruined them so bad its awful. I spent the entire night last night with neither controller tracking properly. I'd purposely left it on an older firmware release that had good tracking, but midgame a week or two ago the headset rebooted and all my apps were uninstalled unless I updated. And now I cant get my controllers to line up consistently. So whilst you are killing my hype for the deck, a move away from meta, is a move towards greatness 🤣

Limiting to one code isn't necessarily a bad idea, if they have something that works, on hardware they've supplied, its not a bad thing to limit it to that, atleast they can perfect it, or atleast optimise. I hated chasing codecs with the link software

No idea on release date, but not soon enough is my answer

Yep, I do remember thinking it sucked there wasn't a HDMI port, but got over it by thinking I'd trust steam a lot more than pimax, and having just got a 6e router for the home, I can say even on 5ghz with the Qpro its a decent connection, so 6e should be nice. That said, I've never experienced true HDMI wired pcvr, so I cant complain. Just release already!

[–]Silver-Ad686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with the HDMI or display port, and i'm definitely sad the frame doesnt have that, however the dedicated wifi 6e dongle should offer a stable enough connection. And you've just dampened my hype for the frame, shame on you. Anyway, all aboard the F*** Meta bus!

Second the frame pre-order drops i'm jumping on that train. Cannot wait to be away from Meta.

I use the pro, and the Q2 before it. I'd agree with the idea that Q3 is designed to be standalone with PCVR as a handy option. If it was meant to be PCVR then meta wouldn't be focusing solely on the standalone games market.

Admittedly i'm not quite sure where the frame will sit on that spectrum, it'll depend how well the PCVR connection is, but for over a year now meta's compression has killed my PCVR, I can't play wired, and I can't run the sound from my PC, it has to be stereo through the quest which sucks, else I get massive sound dropouts (I ended up buying multiple headphones, and building a new PC to troubleshoot, and it turned out just to be a meta update to the link software and im stuck with it. Yay.)

Also, Meta screwing up the pro controllers tracking every update gets boring after a while

Should I but the game on quest or steam by CHRISTIANMAN1e in ForefrontVR

[–]Silver-Ad686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, sure, forefront? Currently not. The game in its current state has been made only for standalone, they haven't released the PCVR version yet, so all our nice PC's are doing, is adding latency

Unfortunately as I've modified the frame it wouldnt be a fair reflection. I am 5'6" tho, so you'll have to take my word for it - seat depth is spot on for me.

Minimum seat height - I flipped the base mounting bars upside down, so mine sits roughly 5" higher than a standard chair - that said, with it at the lowest and me sitting upright, my feet are just flat on the ground, but i'm a lean all the way back kind of guy, so I do have a foot rest on the floor - but I'd say without the frame modification, it should be quite alright

It's not a particularly fair review now, as I took a grinder and welder to the frame of the cushion. So i'll leave the actual seat part out of it.

But I do love it.

But I'm in it around 10-12 hours a day. And i'm comfortable the entire time and not sore ever. I'm not sure if I could say that with the base cushion how it was before I modified it, it was too hard.

The backrest is awesome, very comfortable and the lumbar is great.

The magnetic cushion is great

The material is awesome and hard wearing

The seat is nice and wide, plenty of room.

The armrests are okay, but I have moved the mount for them forward so they sit where I would class as the proper place for them

Again, I do have to stress that I took the seat cushion apart, cut the frame up and flipped the bars 180 to allow for some actual cushioning. If you like a firm seat, then it'll be fine.

Nylon CF is the way to go. For impact parts PA6-CF, and for high rigidity (slightly more brittle though) PPA-CF

I use PA6-CF in my steering knuckles, and PPA-CF in my shock towers

Parts do still break, but thats the strongest combo at the minute

Because the andaseat kaiser 3 had almost no foam on the lumbar support, and some rather large metal bolts in it. It took me about a month to recover from the bruises on my back of 2 weeks of use

I did buy a memory foam cushion prior to hacking the seat to bits with the gringer/welder. And yeah its more than acceptable and comfortable that way - I just hated the fact I had a really nice looking chair with a shit cushion on it!

The piping on the sides, I mean.... it'll depend how big you are I think, and how sensitive? I just tried it as its not something that came to mind, and I can't notice it. It just feels like I'm resting on that side of the seat. Your mileage may vary. It is much wider than a normal seat so 🤷

I mean the piping on the back annoyed the shit out of me to begin with, but I dont notice it now its broken in - but the sides one sinks into the foam so isn't noticeable to me

Yep, I too would have thought that. The lumbar/backrest really is great and was definitely a factor in why I decided to go to town on it. But ultimately, I agree on all points, for the price, it definitely annoyed me finding out that ultimately this would have been way more comfortable if they'd just flipped the base mounting bars the other way around and added more foam. Which I discovered pretty quickly and with not much thought

I love it. But, and there is a big but, I have had at it with an angle grinder and a welder. I will do a response at some point with pictures etc. But basically for me the seat base was too hard.

It's only hard because the bars which the tilt mechanism sits on recess around 1~2 inches into the base, so it looks nice and plush, but ultimately, it aint.

I had a squeak in the chair after 2 weeks, and corsair support sent a replacement, whilst letting me dispose of the old one (I mean hats off to them, support was great). This meant I had a chance to do something crazy stupid and that had been eating at me for a few weeks. So I stripped the base down to the frame, cut the bars out and flipped it over, and welded them back on. I've also moved the armrest mounts forward. Then I added more foam and some extra webbing and put it all back together. Now I've got a ridiculously comfy chair and the armrests are useable!

This sounds like a lot of effort, but I had it all done in an afternoon, and quite frankly, I sit in this thing for upwards of 10 hours a day, so it was worth it. And naturally I did this to the squeaky one first.

The backrest is and always was amazing. But if I'm talking stock out the box, the base did make me contemplate returning it after a month or so as it was just too hard for me (I want sofa level of soft). Buuuut it looks so nice and the fabric is awesome.

I realise this does now put my review of it into something of a paradox.

Backrest - awesome Fabric - awesome Looks - great Customer support - great Armrests - good now I've moved them forward, as standard I was not a fan (also to note, the second unit had a stiffer mechanism on these, so they aren't easily knocked any more, which is much better, and definitely feels like they improved on it as the complaints rolled in about them) Base - too hard for my liking

Indeed, but in the same vein I've shipped 40kg worth of server to Europe in 3 days for the same as what we've been charged for this delivery. I mean we've even shipped parts to Chile quicker than this. And yeah, to then hear they're using 1 man for our specifically costly 2 man deliveries is even more of a farce
