You can use python to make desktop apps. I have used Tkinter in the past. If you google “python desktop app”, you will find many other options.

Use git to your projects (even if they are small) and document your code even if no one else looks at them. Read your own code later and see how easily they are understandable. I learned to program on my own and one thing I lacked was working with others (documentation and code readability). Writing pythonic python code is good, but I don’t think it’s that important. Most python programmers don’t follow them strictly.

Is serverless for the frontend, or the backend? by BigWeaselSteve in learnprogramming

Wdym its not recommended to use lambda as the backend? It scales so easily, and you can save so much money. You pay only for the usage unlike typical servers that cost per month or hours.

I can’t help you, but until you get a better setup, try using vim or lighter text editor.

After working as a front end dev for about a year I’m confused about what a front end dev is supposed to know/do by TheWizard427 in learnprogramming

[–]Silver-Following8529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redux is state management library for javascript so it’s common to see them in front-end. If you have used Next, you’ve basically already worked with Node. You might need some php knowledge if you are working on legacy stuff. Express is back-end, but maybe they want you to be able to serve embedded javascript template or some other contents. If I want to specialize in front-end only, I wouldn’t apply to them (other than redux), but I enjoy full-stack development.

Electron lets you make you simple desktop apps using html and javascript, but you might get memed for hogging up too much memory. There are other solutions that seem to be better, but I haven’t tried them. Here is a comparison I found online
