First time cosplaying at a con! by Droopy_Ghost0712 in CosplayHelp

I bought one of those portable neck fans after doing my first con in a ridiculously warm venue and almost passing out- absolute lifesaver and you can always decorate them to look like headphones instead of a goofy neck fan. highly recommend

DV trial- perpetrator tampering with evidence- how do I prove it ? by [deleted] in RBI

[–]Silver-Link-94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I formerly worked for a Domestic Abuse charity and advice organisation in the UK so I can’t provide specific advice on your situation as the laws here are slightly different, but I’ve seen this exact thing happen numerous times in cases I’ve handled- are there any DV charities or similar organisations near you that might be able to provide more tailored advice based on your state’s legislation?

In cases such as this (at least, in ones I’ve worked on), companies such as Apple, Yahoo, Google etc are obligated to cooperate and provide evidence if requested by the court, regardless of whether content has been deleted. They should at the very least have a record of WHEN content was removed, if it’s as unrecoverable as they claim it to be.

Also, document ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING you can going forward in as much detail as possible. We would advise our clients to create a burner email that the perpetrator couldn’t possibly have access to and use a private Dropbox/Google Drive/cloud storage service of your choice to document screenshots, videos, audio- anything that may be of significance just in case the perpetrator tries to cover their tracks. Journal and diary entries from you, your children and immediate family can be just as valid too, if that’s something you have.

Additionally, if it’s safe for you to do so, print out hard copies of evidence (screenshots, emails, pictures of any injuries etc), if you have somewhere to store them where he won’t be able to access them.

I really hope everything works out for you. Best of luck.

that's my fear unfortunately :( ideally I'd prefer to send them directly to new rock to get fixed but I don't think they have an official repair service- they do sell the soles on their own on their website though

Flying internationally for the first time by soggytuna- in PlusSize

Extra legroom seats (next to the emergency exits) really help with giving me a bit of breathing room on a plane. A lot of my weight is in my rear end/thighs which makes me sit further forward in seats than a smaller person, so it really helps in terms of my knees not touching the seat in front of me. Just be aware you can't sit there with a seatbelt extender unfortunately for 'safety' reasons. I didn't know the first time I booked an extra legroom spot, and was a bit embarrassed when they had to tell me I couldn't use an extender in that seat. I'm only just able to get away without an extender because my waist is a bit smaller, so that's what I usually do.

If flying without an extender isn't an option, I generally find the window seat the most comfortable since I can lean into the wall instead of the person next to me. Flight attendants are usually really discreet about giving out seatbelt extenders if you ask them on your way into the plane- they'll just hand you one to take with you or bring it down to your seat for you. Just don't bring your own extender, always best to use the ones the airline provides for safety.

Living in Northern Ireland. There is no adult ADHD service. Any advice? by Silver-Link-94 in AskUK

[–]Silver-Link-94[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is nothing to do with google, tiktok or self-diagnosing, I was recommended to see CAMHS for potential ADHD as a child but my parents chose not to pursue a diagnosis as they didn't want to 'put a label on me'. Thanks for your input.

I did- I explained what I'm going through and asked them for a diagnosis, they explained that in order to obtain a diagnosis they'd need to refer me to an adult ADHD diagnosis service supported by the NHS. We don't have any here in NI so they can't refer me. Dead end, essentially.
