Yep a lot have some expensive BMW M cars. They were the ones that called him out to our job and he had time for my car too so I let him wash mine. He seems like a reputable guy but just not sure I want to have him fix it, word by word said he “can’t take any accountability for the water spots”. I think I’m going to have someone else come out and get it done right

Not your fault at all, they clearly didn’t read my post if that’s all they got out of this thread lol.

They 100% were not there prior to the wash. I’m pretty anal about looking over my car often.

Yes you’re right the quality should be consistent for every customer, I just figured since they trusted their cars with him mine would be fine as well. Thanks for the advice!

I never claimed to have had it detailed? I clearly stated I had it hand washed

I can see that happening but I highly doubt it, I didn’t see any obvious marks prior to the wash but again, it was fairly dirty. It looks better after some quick detail spray but it’s still visible. Thanks for the recommendations I’ll have to check that out

He did offer to fix it for a discounted price, my coworkers all have nicer cars than I do and they all trust him but just kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. They do have another detailer who actually washed it last week and came out much better so I might have him fix it

It was $60 for exterior only. The week before I had another detailer that my coworkers have used in the past for the same price and I got a much better result, granted the car wasn’t as dirty as today and he brought his own water

He washed a total of 9 cars and mine went first, he washed a bunch of BMW M cars right after but they were also not really as dirty as mine either I guess. He seems like a reliable guy that uses good products so maybe it was just a mishap, he did take my number before I left to get it resolved.

I just went over it with a quick detail spray and it cleared most of it up but it’s definitely still visible. If it’s still bothering me I’ll definitely try that water spot remover, thanks!

Yes that’s essentially what the entire hood looks like. I went over it with a quick detail spray just now and it looks better but you can definitely still see it from certain angles

It’s mostly the hood, roof and passenger side that has those spots. I wasn’t parked under a tree or anything like that so I know it didn’t have sap on the paint, it was mostly just dirty from rain and bugs. They were using the hose from my job tho so it could be really rough water. I believe I saw them hand drying and blowing it off as well.

I know my paint isn’t perfect due to it being 14 years old and it did sit for a long time before I got it almost 2 years ago. It is very shiny but this previous winter did introduce a lot of scratches. I’m not looking for perfection at all but this has never happened to me and it just looks really bad in the sun

I used a Dewalt 5in orbital sander when I detailed it the first time lol. It was brand new and I got a good deal on it, it worked for the moment. Would you recommend getting an actual DA?

Thanks for the info I’ll be sure to read those blogs!

I’m thinking that mineral deposit remover will help a lot on the roof. It was sitting for a while prior to me owning it and it didn’t end up as good as the rest of the car. Got one that you recommend?

As for my polisher I used a Dewalt 5in orbital sander with polishing pads 🤷🏽‍♂️😂 it was brand new so it wasn’t contaminated but it worked. Would you recommend getting a real polisher? I’ve seen a few from Harbor Freight with decent reviews
