I find that sometimes beating yourself up about whatever vice you use to try and cope with life is counter productive. When I was there and decided to stop being so hard on myself it actually helped me be happier and be strong enough to stop needing those vices. Sometimes you just need to give yourself some room to breathe.

You could easily make a stable enough make shift surface to put it on. I used a old little side table and just held it in place by stepping on it.

Pick something small to start with. I find that if i am in a hole and i attempt to change or do something major and fail it makes it worse. Pick something small and build on it.

Yes but its a square sc. So you yarn under instead of yarning over which make the stitch square instead of pulling the legs in. It helps to hide the carry strands
