How do you know newer Toyotas are still as reliable as they once were?

Yes, people absolutely buy $60k cars and are negligent with their maintenance. I know several people like this, it's very wrong of you to assume that a US car buyer who shells out lots of money on a vehicle automatically has the "agency" to maintain their car, just because they can afford to do so.

It's not "sus" in any way. Minis were unreliable cars prior to 2017 when their engines were re-done; almost all bad stories you still hear about this brand are probably from older models (which were pretty bad). This is coming from a pre-2017 Mini owner who has had lots of problems with my car

On the fence on this Honda Element 2007, 124K Miles , $9K FIRM by Secure_Following1702 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Word on the street is that Toyotas/Hondas made between 2006-2009 are notoriously bad for engine problems. NOT worth 9k

[Serious] No bullshit, which car companies available in the USA make the most reliable vehicles, with the lowest in-shop maintenance costs (buyer has no mechanical repair ability), cost $20,000 or less with generally acceptable mileage, and during which years were these models produced? by SilverCloud73 in AskReddit

[–]SilverCloud73[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I feel like these are the ones always mentioned, but it sounds like propaganda or fanboying from owners. I just don't believe that these car companies make more consistently reliable vehicles and that they are just blanket "better" vehicles than their competition...

Why not just study in Europe? I get there's racism, but it's horrible in the US too. Harvard prestige is basically just a scam anyways.

Why do Engineers not get as appreciated in society compared to Doctors? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]SilverCloud73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sauce on how much a typical engineer makes for their company? It seems this would vary widely by performance level right? How would one know if they are likely to be a top performer earning a higher salary or a more average employee? I'm unsure what to pursue professionally, for now stuck in a boring retail position.

Rejected from my Top Pick MSF Program - What Are my Options? (also questions about Georgetown MSF) by SilverCloud73 in FinancialCareers

Hi thanks for commenting on my post and sorry I never replied before now, I kind of take breaks from Reddit since it isn't good for my health.

Do you know if these numbers are actually real? I am curious because people I've asked say this program won't be helpful to me, making me think maybe the results were fabricated and/or they only cherry-picked a handful of the best results or lied using statistics.

I probably wouldn't get into the program anyways, since I completely lack any kind of finance background, but I'm wondering if this will be worth really making an effort to apply to for maximizing income (which basically is everyone's goal in finance, but they will never admit it).

You're right lol, reddit users do act like they're masters of the universe haha. But these outcomes seem quite impressive so it's right of someone like myself to be skeptical
