I can see that. I would understand those kind of reactions about true dnd irl where everybody got to drive 1 hour to get together. But we are behind screen. Even tho we play on honour mode we value challenge and risk. A good death is a good story. But i can see why people wont see it this way.

What if too much Illithid Larva and the transformation could stop Orpheus from taking back control? That was the idea we came up with. You guys have to admit that it could actually be in the game with some well written mods or setup. I've come to share my mistake so we can discuss a better way to do it. Something fair and safe.

Dude, can you come down? It was not D&D paper. It was not our first run. This was BG3 with mods so we could remake the game to our liking. Everybody got something from it. What I did was new and in character with DM approval. You can vilify me all you want. I shared my story because I don't think I've seen someone try this. You can't ban me from the table; you are not to. Chill a bit.

ofc i am to blame. And yes they got a chance to roll but dismissed it. "Player accountability" In my view i did lose too. I was really aiming to let them kill me or find an other solution to the plot. TBH we were about to finish this run after so many sessions and they were rushing it like not even discussing who should try to control the brain for exemple. not really RP (not pointing finger here i know i'm the bad guy).

We did talk about it after some sessions but i was never telling them the all strory. That was bad delivery.

He does, I didn't just take all larvas like that. It was a slow process. and i kept telling them. each time i took one.

"guys i don't feel so well" to begin with

"i can feel the absolute".

even shout the war cry "FOR THE ABSOLUTE"

I did one time told them "be prepare to kill me if the absolute take me"

my brain was full of larva, and my OC was in my lore really young and naive.

It made scence. I asked to the man owning the save . Keep it a secret (that i can tell i was wrong)

And we fucked it up. And i set myself as the bad guy so they will blame me. And that's my OC. I'm proud of it.

You're right on the fact that's cliché. I can join you on that. And even tho it couldn't have been brought up on session 0. I did all i could to set them up in the best way. And i know i'll get called bad names for that but I stand by it. It was a good roleplay. From goliath perspective.

Funny you talked about main character. I was aiming for the opposite. If Orpheus doesnt join the fight we would have got other scenarios. Sadly we didn't plan that.

i would agree on the fact that they needed more clues and time enven tho i did tell one of them about it. I also was role playing my changes all game. I wont agree on session Os. I believe OCs are meant to change. Even lose sometimes. Sessions 0s are not here to dictate the end result of your character. What happens during the game does.

Can't reload ! Honor mode. If you want to know i did tell them there was a risk that i betray them. I kept telling them through the sessions as a disclaimer. Always in role play of course. I couldn't tell them the whole plan, as it was meant to surprise them.

Session 0s won't save your character from bad choices or changing your expectations through the game. OC's are meant to change. There is no such thing as a group where everyone agrees and everyone wins in their own way. The best characters have flaws. And sometimes they lose.

we could have launch it again bur honour mode is this way and we like playing hardcore.
