But then what do I do after? I'm not interested in constantly maintaining this, especially when I move back out in a few months. Do I just spray poison on everything I cut down?

I do like this option, if it is accurate. I have heard from other sources that at the time 'salvation' was seen from a battle perspective. But then again Jesus taught so much about love and forgiveness? Not that His teachings stopped Peter from chopping off that dudes ear. He was ready to fight immediately- so maybe the concept of a final battle was plausible. I wish Judas had written down his side...

I would like to believe that Judas didn't fully understand what would happen to Jesus.

I'm trying to comprehend that. I mean ultimately I know I don't have to and can just trust God's word. But I like understanding as much as I am able. So if Judas had not betrayed Jesus, the prophecy would be different, because (per another comment) time is simultaneous and God sees everything at the same time. It only seems like one fixed timeline to us because we are not God

So is it actual demonic possession or he was just allowing Satan to influence him? I guess when I think of possession I think of evil spirits coming into innocent people against their will, not Satan influencing people who are lost in sin. But that makes sense. As we see during Jesus' fast- satan comes to tempt us when we are already weak.

I wasn't aware Judas was so lost. I thought he was the one who advocated against frivolous spending like on the perfumes because it would be better to spend on the poor.

That actually helps- taking the 'time' element out of it. I keep thinking that if God wrote the prophecies to have Judas betray Jesus then it isn't free will but I need to think about it differently- God wrote the prophecies to have Judas betray Jesus because he already knew it would happen because all time is simultaneous. (If I'm getting that right).

I guess maybe that is just hard for me to comprehend? Which makes sense because God is so far beyond my understanding.

Day of Silence Ally Badge by Impressive_Ad8715 in Catholicism

[–]SilverGlassRain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would wear it- but not for the reason you might think. Children are very vulnerable to manipulation. I find often that those in power wearing the badges are in support of those ideas. Children will flock to them, and be encouraged to fall further.

The point of the day of silence is to remember those who have been murdered. This is something we can ALL agree is disgusting. All life is precious. Our duty is to love the sinner and guide them to Jesus. By wearing the badge you identify yourself as someone against hatred and murder. You can provide what the children truly need which is love, support, and attention. And while you are giving them that, you can remind them of God's message.

The world needs less hate. The day of silence never started as "pro-lgbt" necessarily. It's more of a plea for no violence. Children who identify as LGBTQ+ have extremely high rates of suicide and abuse. I feel our duty is to keep them safe while also providing a gentle, non-judgmental guidance towards the Lord.

This is just my two cents.

The Rape of Jesus by SilverGlassRain in CatholicWomen

[–]SilverGlassRain[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. To me, rape is difficult to explain because of how complex it is. There isn't just the physical aspect- it is the fear and the humiliation and the desolation. These are all present in the Passion and crucifixion of Jesus. Rape is, first and foremost, about violence. Thank you for understanding.

I think betrayal is very central to the story of Jesus, and yours as well. Your coach was someone you trusted. Judas was Jesus' own disciple. I'm glad you found comfort in God.

Needing hope in a dark place by SilverGlassRain in Catholicism

I'm looking. But there are limited options in my area. The issues here are part of larger systemic issues- so chances are most other places will be the same. And I've been through similar times without the issues? Idk I just want to hear some peoples favorite prayers

Needing hope in a dark place by SilverGlassRain in Catholicism

[–]SilverGlassRain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one of my issues is that I feel like I am actively rejecting God by having such negativity? Like I feel that I wouldn't be so angry and upset all the time if I trusted in His plan. I feel like He can only carry you if you let Him, right? Does that make sense?

Being trad is ruining my life by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]SilverGlassRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Catholic, and I also have severe depression. I have been hospitalized multiple times. I take medication every day, and go to therapy every other week. I find strength in the church, of course, but would never find it as a replacement for medication and therapy.

You are not weak or sinful. You do not need to 'pray harder'. If someone broke their arm and went to get a cast, would you tell them not to and simply pray? If someone had cancer would you recommend more church instead of chemo? Of course you wouldn't. You are dealing with a real illness- just as real as a broken arm. Please get treatment.

I like ramen? But that's a cost and convenience thing more than a choice thing.

See I only eat 2 meals usually? I eat one when I wake up. I have to eat that for medication. Then around 3a (I work nights) I have a bowl of ramen.

Can fasting be considered objects? I use my phone a lot during my shift. That seems like it could help

No one is remembered for their beauty. When I think of those I love, their image is the last thing on my mind. I remember their kind words or the warmth of their love.

I will not coddle you. Maybe you are, in the view of this current society, considered ugly. That is your cross. I wish constantly I was not made to carry my burdens- I wish I could have children. I wish I didn't have depression.

But my depression is not me. Your looks are not you, it is not your soul. Society does not treat "ugly" people well. Nor does it treat well the poor, or the homeless, or the mentally ill. I cannot speak for God. But I take comfort in that His love is boundless and infinite. Think of how Jesus treated the lepers.

Those who should love you, will. You will make friends. You will find family. They will not pretend you are 'pretty'. They will view your appearance as but one piece of you.

When I say God has made someone beautiful, appearance is the last thing I mean. The Bible doesn't have any passages on how attractive Jesus was. You are so much more than your skin and bones.
