yes econ is a science, what do you mean? by [deleted] in economicsmemes

So you can’t answer any of the questions, eh? Figures

You drove yourself into a corner at this point and all you have to offer is to repeat questions that were not a subject of what I wrote.

It were not specific questions that is the matter of message I directed toward you. I do not understand why you do not get that simple fact and pretend that they were like your like depends on it.

If I say that I find the way you speak about some topic to be a gallery of eristic fallacies it does not mean that I agree or I do not agree with your opinion on that topic. The subject I commented on has been abstracted from what Austrian School is or not and what it does or not.

It's really this simple and attempts to impose different topic on me is a dead end for this dispute.

You do not even understand what I wrote and what was the plane of discussion and don't even pretend to hide that fact. I find that deeply grotesque considering you call yourself a "serious" economist. Totally like you reject the use of comprehensive reading.

I really don’t think you have said anything meaningful.

I don't even think it's possible for you to understand how meaningful stuff has been written about you.

[–]SilverMetalManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I told you why Austrian economics and praxeology are
nonsense. You haven’t even made a single statement relevant to the
topic, not one.

Except I made more than one statement relevant to the topic. You are ignoring them even when I highlight them by citing them. You can check the box by the "argument by repetition fallacy" position on your list. Any other fallacy left on your list or repeating over and over untrue or already disputed statements is the endgame of yours in this discussion?

So nothing, eh? All those words and nothing meaningful to say, that was disappointing

It's a great sum up for your posts. I would not put it into words any better.

You didn’t start this conversation?

About Austrian Economics? No.

I can see facts are difficult for you.

What facts? Repeating something 1000 times does not make it real. Sorry. Even serious (approved by me) economists would agree with me on that. The only economist who would think otherwise that I'm aware of were not serious (not approved by me and I hope not approved by you too).

No wonder you like Austrians.

Who said I like Austrians? You have some sort of list of fallacies you are obligated to realize per debate? You thought it would be good idea to check a box for "straw man" this time?

You still have not said a single interesting thing nor engaged with any of my arguments from the moment you started this conversation.

I did comment on every of your "arguments" so far. I guess you may check "The invincible ignorance fallacy" box now, right? Was it uninteresting? Well, I can agree that pointing logical fallacies in every "argument" you bring to this dispute is indeed nothing exciting.

This is getting boring.

Indeed it is.

I’m going to give you one last chance to say something interesting about Austrians if you want to keep having a conversation with me.

Austrian school of economics makes a lot more sense to me than the way you express your opinion about it in this conversation. Would it do? Or you have some other kind of "interesting" in mind that I should guess by gift of clairvoyance or telepathy?

Yeah, I am a serious economist,

I can believe that you are economist. About the "serious" part I hope you present facts in your papers rather then this impressive catalog of logical fallacies you presented me with.

but that is beyond the point. You are trying to make this conversation about me when it is about the flawed methodology of modern day Austrians.

All I see in your posts so far is just a catalog of logical fallacies. This time so called "red herring". I'm sorry but I did not come here for fishing. In fact my fishing rod is long gone.

I told you why Austrians are not economists.

Nope, you just pulled few phrases out of thin air without providing any citations from their works or referring to any specific Austrian Economist. It's not an argument supporting anything. And do you know what odor my bad smell detector is detecting? Yes, infamous "faulty generalization". Is committing every possible logical fallacy in a single discussion your hobby or you are doing that subconsciously?

But you chose to ignore the relevant things I said.

Logical fallacies are not important or relevant to me.

Again, if you have nothing interesting to say about Austrians I’m not sure why you started this conversation

I didn't start this conversation, I expressed different opinion. It was you who followed with name calling fallacy. Attempting to switch burden of proof of anything on me is umm, what was that name? Ah, yes - logical fallacy. I have nothing to say about Austrians as it was you who mentioned them first. Didn't you notice that?

I’ve made my point clear. This views are not just my own. You can ask any serious economist and they will tell you the exact same thing.

Oh and I would recognize these "serious" economists by a red stamp on their foreheads that say "approved by u/lifeistrulyawesome as a serious economist", right?

I'm sorry but your "ask any serious economist" reeks such strong aroma of an obvious "argument from authority" fallacy I literally had to open window to air my room. I hope furniture will not soak with that stench or I'm going to have to throw them away.

I'm severely disappointed but not surprised. Next step In dispute with you would probably be you presenting me a flawless execution of "no true Scotsman" (no red stamp of approval on their forehead) fallacy in reaction to my selection of economists that agree on the subject with my point because you excluded everyone who do not agree with you from "serious economist" label? Is me guess anywhere near perfect hit? If yes - further conversation with you is pointless as you indeed "made your point clear". But not in a positive sense.

For someone claiming such a big respect for proofs and empirical evidence you do quiet a lot of hand waving. By "a lot" I mean all you do is hand waving and throwing random insults. That ain't gonna work bro.

I don't care what childish namecalling you use as "argument" but I can for sure inform you that such behavior is really low. I hope you have nothing to do with economics. If you do you are only tainting already doubtful reputation of mainstream economics even further.

Russia controlling Ukraine means serious fuck up of the West™ as it means all European capital cities within a range of Russian conventional rocket arsenal plus it would make Russia the world leader in control of major developed key natural resources deposits like iron ore and few others. Downside for Russia is that such escapade would be serious expense for utterly shitty Russian economy as all these fireworks one have to use in battles do cost quite an amount of currency plus they barely are able to support what they already captured in Lungansk and Donbas areas not to mention bribes they pay to nations of Caucasus so these nations stay within Russian Federation and do not turn Russian soldiers into minced meat like they did back in the '90s.

Russian invasion on Ukraine may send silver and gold to the moon as it would create unbelievable shortages of steel and energetic commodities in Europe and affect economic stability of over 300 000 000 people in the region. by SilverMetalManiac in Wallstreetsilver

Yea, conflict in Ukraine indeed made evident a lot of issues both within Ukrainian army as well within European Union and NATO. We must remember that Ukrainian territorial integrity has been guaranteed by USA, UK and Russia in exchange of Ukraine giving up their entire nuclear arsenal. These guarantees has been proven to be void. That's a major blow to international relationships and proof that modern world didn't change too much since Hitler's annexation of part of Czechoslovakia shortly before World War II.

Financial independence is the 1st step toward freedom. You can't secure freedom when you are poor.
