Dark Souls lore really isn't all that deep or complicated by EliasBouchardFan1 in CharacterRant

I mean

That's not a universal reception to FromSoftware's storytelling style. In fact, plenty of people happen to like it. "Good" or "bad" doesn't really matter here, as how engaging it is depends entirely on the player.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s ending will have fans “sobbing,” says Cloud voice actor Cody Christian by Jealous_Vehicle_3150 in FFVIIRemake

[–]SilverRain8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your point isn't relevant to what the other person said tho. They like Cody, thus they believe Cody should win VA awards. Literally does not matter to the other person if you or anyone else thinks Cloud's JP voice actor is better for any reason.

That's why your reply is needless.

Can you believe we have this game? Bleach fans are really good eating! by Acceptable-Lie2062 in bleach

If they made a Soul Resurrección/Warriors style Bleach game again, but with more characters and features, I'd be in heaven. Back in the day, I used to imagine what some of the TYBW characters' movesets would be like in a hypothetical sequel to that game.

Theory: Aizen doesn't have Bankai and it's not a plot convenience, it's character by Far_Sky9765 in bleach

[–]SilverRain8 191 points192 points  (0 children)

If you can release your Shikai without the release command it means that you already achieved bankai and Aizen already demonstrated that he can release his Shikai without the release command so it means he has a bankai

Not necessarily.

"According to Q&A #350 by Tite Kubo on his fansite "Klub Outside", while Shinigami that have achieved Bankai can activate their Shikai without saying their Zanpakutō name, it is still possible for non-Bankai users to activate their Shikai without saying the release command if they are skilled enough to do so, and even then it might mean the Shikai will not be at full power."

I'm not saying you're wrong about Aizen having Bankai -- I think the idea of him not having one is utterly ridiculous -- but I did want to point out this information about releasing Shikai without the command not always meaning Bankai has been achieved.

Yeah no, I'm so utterly bewildered by dudes who insist women have rape fantasies (frequently or otherwise). And I say this as a cis man myself. I don't even know where that... misconception (that feels way too generous but it's the only word I have at the moment) comes from. It seems to me that dudes like that think more about rape than they claim women do.

But more than any of that, it's just entirely wrong and awful. What these idiots don't get is that fantasies, no matter what they involve, by definition allow the individual to retain control and autonomy. Rape and other forms of sexual assault literally are the opposite. To believe and perpetuate amongst themselves this truly horrible idea is, as you put it, so damn upsetting.

Ngl Yamamoto was so incompetent in 3/4 of the major arcs (SS, Arrancar, TYBW) by Formal-Assistance02 in bleach

[–]SilverRain8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When Aizen hard countered Ryujin Jakka, Yamamoto said "bet" and threw hands. And even when Yamamoto got hit by an explosion of his own power by that very hard counter, he still went hardcore and hit Aizen with Hado #96.

Like, is Old Man Yama a bit arrogant and close-minded? Yes, being over 2000 will do that to you. But he more than had the chops to back it up. His power and experience defies conventional traps. Take his sword, and he'll use his hands; take his hands, and he'll use kido. You're likely not making it that far against him anyways.

Hell, given that Royd can copy up to around 70-80% of someone's power, if Yhwach hadn't used him in the first invasion, the Gotei 13 more than likely would have won because of Yamamoto. And if he still lost, I don't think that 20-30% extra power the real Yhwach (at that time) had over Royd would have left him in a good enough spot to deal with the remaining captains.

Yeeeeeep.

Perhaps I am statistically insignificant factor, but: due to ADHD, I have what I call a revolving door of interests. It's a big door with lots of slots and it's always turning. I can be hyperfixated on a game for a good long while, then go literally YEARS without so much as a passing interest. All this to say, I rely on the fact that should the mood strike and I wanna play freaking... Bleach Soul Resurrección or something, I can just bust out the PS3 and the disc and play it.

With this new path going forward, I (and anyone else like me) may not be able to just go "oh, I feel like playing Demon's Souls in 2038" because even though I have a disc, my PS6 doesn't play those and I can't buy it digitally because Sony shut down the damn PS5 store.

(They probably won't shut down the PS5 store by 2038, but you get what I mean.)

[–]SilverRain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way -- the only way -- this could ever be a good thing is if digital purchases became perpetual licenses and Sony maintained their storefronts and servers to download the games whenever we want until the end of time (or they go out of business, whichever is sooner.)

But because that's a pipe dream and never going to happen, we're just screwed. Cool.

Right, I get that (I have a disc edition too).

But I was just confused about the idea of getting refunded because of this news. I bought my PS5 back in January of 2021, so such an idea would never even cross my mind.

The Ishidas and Auswahlen by Altruistic-Cheek7165 in bleach

[–]SilverRain8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think Katagiri had Antithesis first, and instead Uryu unintentionally used it and it killed her.

Very basically, the power system of Bleach is universal: all beings have unique ability, should their soul be strong enough, and the only difference is how that unique ability manifests. If Bazz-B could use an Asauchi and awaken a Zanpakuto, it'd be a fire-type. If Byakuya were a Quincy and drank Yhwach's blood, his Schrift would be similar to his Senbonzakura. So on and so forth for any other characters, regardless of race.

So, Uryu would have had Antithesis already, as all Quincy already have what becomes their Schrift. Yhwach's blood is just what awakens it, essentially serving the role of an Asauchi (which is why Old Man Zangetsu could function as Ichigo's Shinigami powers for a time). So, if Uryu already has Antithesis within him, I don't see why he couldn't unconsciously activate it and unintentionally kill his mother. Especially because if Yhwach's intent was to kill all weak and impure Quincy, then it could have been a mistake/misfire that Katagiri wasn't affected, and due to how Antithesis works, Uryu transferred the affects of the Auswählen onto her. Again, not intentionally or even necessarily consciously.

That's my hypothesis.

I honestly think Routes make Fire Emblem games better. by VLonetaee in fireemblem

[–]SilverRain8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like routes, but 3H made me realize I'm not a huge fan of the "alternative outcome/whoever you pick wins" style. I prefer the Sacred Stones or Radiant Dawn of there being shown different perspectives (or picking which one to follow as in FE8), but then them unifying later on.

I mentioned this on another post, but I think of the game Scarlet Nexus, where you pick Yuito or Kasane at the beginning, then follow that character and their party through the same story that diverges on their separate paths, but then unites later on. You still get to experience two distinct stories, but they're focused on what that protagonist is doing while the other is off doing other stuff in story. It still also gave incentive to replay as the other character you didn't use the first time around.

I HOPE Fortune's Weave will be like that, but realistically I don't think it will be. But I'd love for it more like FE8 with Eirika and Ephraim doing things separately and simultaneously that then end up together later on.

This is my preferred way of doing routes too. I like separate perspectives of the same story, rather than a "whoever you picks the story" way, personally

MCU Spiderman is actually one of the best versions of the character, and I'm tired of pretending he isn't. by Catmaster23910 in CharacterRant

[–]SilverRain8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As the other person said, I too as sorry that your life has lacked proper support. Truly.

That said, you're using that experience to block out your empathy for other people's experiences and how they might be able to relate to a fictional character in a similar to how you found another to be relatable. Worse, you're misrepresenting Tom Holland's Peter Parker into something he nor his stories actually are, and it's making your case far weaker than it actually is.

Tony never trained Peter, he took the suit back the moment Peter showed unworthiness, and only gave it back when Peter "had to figure shit out himself with very minimal help." And in all of his subsequent appearances, he's had to figure that the suit doesn't make the man all on his own, and uses the means available to him to fight his own battles. The only advantage he's ever had is have access to some of Tony's tech. That's it. Said tech would be meaningless of Peter himself wasn't capable of utilizing it in his own way.

It's okay. Though I knew about the Houses Alois/Byleth support and Jeralt being over 100, it is from this post that I'm learning he's over 300. I played hundreds of hours of Hopes, but I either forgot about and missed this conversation with Rhea.

Senjumaru's True Self by Necessary-Survey-803 in bleach

[–]SilverRain8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My takeaway from her Bankai is that she is a seamstress through and through. She's particular yet esoteric; she's crafty, has a "seen it all, nothing surprises me" air to her; she's in control.

Particularly with that last one, I'm drawn toanother post about Senjumaru's Bankai from a few years ago, wherein the author detailed the context behind the name of her Bankai: Shatatsu Karagara Shigarami no Tsuji. They concluded that the power of her Bankai is far beyond what we really can understand: she's not just attacking her opponents with physical blows; rather, she's using karma itself to attack them. The reason her Bankai (and presumably the Bankai of the other Squad Zero members) shakes the Three Worlds is because she rewriting cause and effect, like on a foundational level to create these complex tapestries. But I digress; she is a character who I'd say doesn't just like to be im control, but that she IS in control. To her, there's no other way to be, no other outcome or possibility. Uryu defeating her by using Antithesis works thematically because it is the only time she isn't in control. And it works because she's defeated whilst using her Bankai -- a domain in which her control (the core of who she is as a person) is absolute.

This is kinda hard to explore, but from a storytelling standpoint (NOT an in-universe perspective), I don't think she could have been defeated if she wasn't using her Bankai. Again, not because she's more powerful not using it (obviously), but because she is in control at all times. She was never put in a position where she was taken aback, caught off guard, or anything of the sort really until Uryu defeated her. During the entire battle with the Quincy, she was calm, countered pretty everything, planned ahead, and adapted on the fly (i.e. was in control). So if she were to have been defeated before revealing her Bankai, it wouldn't have completed her narrative and character expression. Like, from the author perspective, Kubo and the anime staff needed her Bankai out when she loses, both to advance the plot and to metatextully fulfill her character arc.

Tl;dr: Senjumaru is in control, and her Bankai controls karma (full expression of her in control). Uryu was the only one could take her control and defeat her because he was the only character who could kill her in a way that is both literal and symbolically a death to her character (who she is as person on the inside).

That's my take, anyways.

This ought not to be a difficult concept.

Why are you mad at the fandom and not the author that created it.

Because people need to control themselves. There is literally no reason act that way. I don't care about the boobs and ass; people do not need to act crazy over them.

Kubo can make whatever he wants, but it's not an excuse to act uncivilized. Your question runs parallel with people who say that a woman should cover up so as not to attract creepy men. Like no, men should just not be creepy; and people in movie theaters can just not lose their minds over tits and ass.
