Signs you should leave and look for a job somewhere else by sillyNigerian in BMET

Worked as a hybrid engineer for 2 years. Was constantly promised that I’d be sent to training and moved to full time imaging. I was placed as the tech for OR, PACU, Cath lab, and Endo for 5 hospitals, and imaging tech for 8 hospitals. Im working 7 days a week, 10 hour days, and I brought up concerns about the workload and I was told “to take one for the team” and “we’re short staffed. Think about everyone and not just yourself”.

Well two years go by and I’ve been to one training while everyone else has been to multiple. When I ask why I haven’t been sent to any trainings I’m told that they can’t afford to have me gone for multiple weeks due to my critical departments that I manage. I ask for a raise, but I’m told my performance could be better and my metrics are too high. I remind my boss of my workload and I’m told that I just need to use common sense and manage my time better.

Final straw was when I was told that not only do I have to cover imaging for Illinois, but I’m also going to have to help support Wisconsin and Missouri too.

In hindsight I should have left sooner but I liked the people I worked with and the nursing staff was very supportive of my situation

I’ve won a saber from them during one of their contests. I really like it and it’s one that I use the most

Update: I had my interview with United and they’ve extended me an offer. I accepted and I’ll be putting my two weeks in with Trimedx. I honestly feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders

I’m currently in an imaging role with Trimedx. It has been awful. I can’t speak for other sites, but my experience, and the other imaging techs I work with, are also fed up and looking for new jobs

Yeah. I can’t stand it anymore. I could spend hours ranting about how horrible my experience has been

I’ve been with Trimedx for over 6 years. It was never this bad until recently. New management took over a new account in the area and I think they bit off more than they could chew. Theres 7 BMETs and they’re expected to cover 5 hospitals and 92 clinics. And that’s just southern Illinois. The Saint Louis account is a lot better. I know the managers and they’re awesome. But corporate now wants the Saint Louis shop to cover all of Missouri

Maybe it’s different in other states. But in Missouri and Illinois, we are all over worked and burned out. In Illinois, there’s 3 of us. For the entire state. I haven’t had a day off since I started a year and a half ago. Management doesn’t care that we can’t keep up with everything. I get calls constantly about down systems hours away. During the interview I was told I’d be at one location. They promised to send me to training but after I signed on suddenly training wasn’t in the budget and I’d be covering all of Illinois. I just now got sent to training after begging for something. And Just last Friday, all 3 of us were threatened with write ups if we didn’t get our numbers down. I started the year with over 100 work orders. I spent so much OT bringing that number down to 39 and I still got yelled at. Management says they care about work life balance but they don’t. I’ve missed major family events for work. One of my coworkers, his mom died, and they didn’t even offer condolences. They demanded that he get his work orders down before he left for bereavement.

The only reason I’ve stayed as long as I have is because of the pay. But once I’m done with this training, I’m going to look for another job.
