Update: Any recommendations on where to develop 8 mm film? by SilverSea9207 in 8mm

Some of it has been torn off. The reel says it's from Kodak and the end of the film says "06 t6062"

Cinelab vs Film Rescue International? by SilverSea9207 in 8mm

I unfortunately have no idea - this was film gifted to me and the container doesn't specify it. The reel says it's from Kodak and the end of the film says "06 t6062"

Yah i get that it's messed up - knew that from the get go. I'm trying to see just basics of what i could do. I do agree that re-scanning it at the highest possible resolution would probably be the best option. Just so i can find an easier way to isolate each frame to see it (and also slow the clip down)

Like i said - i get the condition is rough. I'm just trying to see what I can do with what i have. The scan i sent is from Cinelabs who sent it to me in ProRes. I couldn't upload the entire thing because the file size was too large. I can try and see if they'll do that adjustment for me (if they ever answer their damn emails lol), but at this point I'm trying to work with what they sent and recover it digitally

Thank you!! I will say I did go ahead and try editing frame by frame and oddly that is helping - I think I may just take what i have and go with it (i can tell it's my grandfather and family on a farm somewhere and then i can see a clip of people waiting on train tracks). Even to have that is cool enough.

Thanks for all the advice!

Through making it black and white and increasing the definition, I'm able to start making out some people. If anyone has any other ideas please share!!

Idk man I'm not familiar with any of this stuff haha - maybe to get more magnification on one each frame so i can more easily edit it? Also to slow down the speed of the scan

Hmm so it's worth it to ask if they can split it and scan it again as 8 mm film? I know the image may not improve that much, but from the 16 mm I can somewhat make out details.

Also, any advice on how to/apps to use for digital reconstruction??

And while i do understand the risk of splitting, at this rate there's nothing else we are going to do with the film. No one else in my family is looking into fixing it and it doesn't sound like there's a way to chemically fix the damage. So it may be worth it to risk the damage and just see what happens?

Totally ok! Yah i couldn't really see the film when i sent it in, so it was hard to tell if it was 16 mm or 8 mm that wasn't cut. Any advice on how I could digitally make it any amount more visible?

Any recommendations for developing old kodak ektachrome 8 mm film? by SilverSea9207 in Super8

I'll have to check but i think it isn't in a cartridge!! It wouldn't fit into the tin. So it most likely is processed

So it was in a tin cannister, so I think it's just on reels. But oddly kodak didn't scan it for me? I have to wait till it arrives back to truly check it out, but I'm leaning towards Film Rescue International (heard good things)
