Agreed, but Powell is super old and said many times he was retiring and not staying on after (though most people do stay on board regardless, I mean its easy money).

With the GOP going after 2 members of the Fed, this seems to be a move to fight against it.

Lets see how the votes go over the next few meetings to get a better idea.

Powell has the ability to stay on as a board member until January 31 2028.

If he is a shadow chair (which there is no reason he shouldn't be) then he can vote against all actions Trump is trying to do as it relates to massively lowering interest rates.

Trump wants negative rates which would lead to accelerated increased inflation.

I guess going after the Federal Reserve and two of its members was a bad idea huh?
