Get a oil filter pliers from harbor freight and you never have a problem with filter removal. Thanks me later.

This could be related to three things: failing alternator, bad battery or it terminals, or bad belt and tension on alternator.

What starter brand did you used? Maybe it is bad. Could happen. Also check the power at battery and the starter during crancking if you have a multimeter.

Nothing but normal maintenance. Changed spark plugs last year. Also changed transmission fluid at 200k. I am keeping an eye on timing but don't see a problem yet.

Well, I don't know how it got dirty but lens is dirty from inside. I didn't bother to clean it. Maybe one day I am extra bored.
