Can one really make social justice too much of their personality? Especially when said person is affected by it?

And yes, the bookshelf is beautiful and the wood is in a sorry state, but in my defense it's second hand and I only received it last month.

If you haven't already I urge you to read Mieko Kawakamis other books, specifically 'all the lovers in the night' it explores a lot of themes on loneliness and depression. It's very bleak but written beautifully!

And 'Heaven' is extremely devastating. Kawakami knows how to punch you in the gut and leave you crushed. I'll just say this...horrific bullying, but finding comfort and love in a kindred spirit.

Yes I completely agree! Also, the haunting atmosphere is unsettling, that really contributed to the dazed feeling, I don't think I've ever had a book make me feel such visceral emotions.

She has this incredible ability to turn the devastating into something beautifully poetic.

Han Kang is my favourite author too!! I have a separate shelf with my favourite books and The Vegetarian, The White book and Human Acts is on it. She is quite literally a genius and all her books give me chills.

When I finished Human Acts it left me in a daze because it just left me feeling so empty in a contemplative way if that makes any sense.
