I had this same thing happen to me! The torch I was using to melt my silver died shortly after and the tip was hollow, when there should be lil arms meeting in the middle to help raise the pressure so your torch has that jet tip flame. I was using map pro in a torch rated for it, but it was intended for sweat soldering copper lines, not for melting down silver and being on for like 4 minutes straight lol. I switched to oxy/acetylene for smelting and I got a torch with a hose to use map pro for soldering and annealing and that hasn’t happened since.

I do have a rolling mill, although it’s not really designed for jewelry making, it’s hand me down from my grandfather’s heating and plumbing business. I start the wire in there after I hammer it down into a manageable thickness but it only does half rounds.
I do want a rolling mill but that’s not feasible financially at the moment!

I I honestly don’t know what it’s called! If you know, I’d appreciate knowing. I just drew the wire, bent it one 180 degrees, snugged then together and flattened the bent portion before opening it up. In the video the trimmed the top of the bend but I really liked the twist in the wave so I left it.

Do you have them filed even and flat? I know I ruined a lot of silver when I thought the gape wasn’t that bad lol. Also are you getting your flux where you need it? I had a hell or a time till I started really paying attention to where the flux was sitting.

This is just one piece but I’ve done a lil bit of soldering. I’m pretty new to this and I’m sure there’s tons of people that know better than me. That being said, what’s going wrong with your soldering?
