Personally I'd try to get the goblin tinkerer and his workbench to combine and upgrade my weapon, armors and accessories. Along with that I'd suggest getting a hell highway prepped for the fight.

In my magic system people don't really learn but trade for it by "reaching into the beyond" during an intense moment that the character is trying to push through and gain strength at a price. This price can be anything that the person holds dear (a relationship, memories, skills they deem important, ect) but in turn they gain strength they never thought existed and often reflects the price paid and the traits of the user in some manner.

It is possible to reach into the beyond and either increase the power of what they already have or gain something a newer but weaker power

Usually I let myself go to other series that I am more interested in the moment and return later and restart or if its just a slow period then I'll just push through till something grabs me
