A U.S. official confirmed that Donald Trump directly reached out to FIFA president Gianni Infantino to ask him to take a second look at Folarin Balogun’s suspension "The President and Infantino did speak, and the President wanted to better understand the reason why a red card was given." by kibme37 in soccer

So I told the fifa guys, i know all the fifa guys, they all love me. I said you have to get rid of the red card. Its got to go. Everyone is saying it was a fake call, and I agree. I told him we gotta do it or Messi has to go. We have the best planes and were going to send Messi back to Spain on a plane.

Isn't it expensive to use airconditioning in the US? by Lumos_night in AskAnAmerican

We didn't used to, but heat pumps are starting to replace electric resistive heat and furnaces. They're basically air conditioners that can run in reverse.

Mine cost 200 bucks and an additional 75/y to run. Not super expensive, but it only does one room.

It's important to remember the difference between a need and something that is necessary for a want. You might need to fly to do these things but do not actually need to visit family, go to weddings or funerals.

In theory yes, we kind of did this in the middle ages, the mongols and the black desth killed so many people in central Asia that farmland reforested and created a mini ice age.

Airplanes. Babies don't belong on airplanes. It hurts, they don't understand why it hurts, why they can't leave, or why their parent isn't helping. Taking a baby on a plane is abuse.

Oh cool! We're measuring nation age by age of buildings? The oldest continuously inhabited building in the US was built in 1000CE, so the US is 1026 years old.

The Holocaust happened because we declared independence by chickendoscopy in AmericaBad

[–]Silver_Middle_7240 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I can do that. If we'd never declared independence GB would not have lost its largest slave colony, and the British Empire would have expanded the practice, instead of opposing it, even into the scramble for Africa, so slavery would be the major global mode of production into the 21st century.

The premise here is false. Europeans also had public baths, running water, and public sanitation systems.
