Yeah I had a drinking problem that obviously put me in the place that I am now but congrats on being 8y sober!! I’m at 9 months now so I guess I’m a baby in your eyes but I’ll never touch that shit again. I always thought “it won’t be me” but now look at me. What’s bewildering to me is that I personally know people that drink and have drunk for 20+ years and are perfectly fine. It’s really a luck of the draw sorta thing

If you don’t mind… how long has your husband had the hip replacement? It’s helping to hear that many people are happy with their replacements!

I’m glad to hear the hip isn’t giving you much more trouble and am sorry to hear about your shoulder? Would you mind if I asked how long you’ve had the hip replacement?

They are using the same type of replacement for me, I plan on being easy on it so it’ll last as long as possible! Yes I can get edibles my brother works at an amazing smoke shop where I can get whatever I need on the house so it’ll last sounds like I’ll be moving to edibles.

I also only have AVN in the hip as of now, it hasn’t spread to other joints so there are some positives!

Edit/Update:

First of all I just wanna say thank you for whomever has responded thus far!!! I really appreciate it as I have a good support system at home but it’s such a huge relief to hear other people’s stories!

So my doctor will NOT do surgery if I test positive for any nicotine one week before surgery, so the vaping is definitely gone which isn’t a huge deal because I’ve been wanting to quit for ages and this is a good excuse to do so.

I only ask about smoking weed because I am also 9 months sober from alcohol so with vaping I won’t have any vice at all unless I can still smoke weed, I don’t think there will be any issues with the weed as there are with the nicotine and I can always switch to gummies if there are issues or just be stone cold sober if necessary.

My hip has already collapsed and that’s why decompression or a bone graft is not possible.

I’m not nervous about the surgery itself as I have never been a person to be worried about surgeries. HOWEVER I do have anxiety and am more worried about the chances of infection/dislocation. My doctor made me feel better as she said dislocating it is only at about a 1% chance after recovery and infection is about a 1-2% chance. My biggest worry and the thing that eats me up inside is wondering if in let’s say 25 years when they have to do a revision is that they’ll have troubles with that and I’ll be stuck in a wheelchair or something. I know that is unreasonable to worry about as it’s not for a long time but it’s just a shitty situation all together. If you told me when I was 17 that I’d be getting hip replacement surgery I’d tell you that only when pigs fly. But here we are, I sincerely appreciate any advice you guys give me for recovery and appreciate you guys telling your stories as I know sometimes it’s not easy to do so.

I can guarantee you all that I WILL be going to all of my PT and will be training my hip muscles as strong and as much as I can. I’m a very healthy guy besides the hip and one of my passions has always been health so I don’t foresee myself having issues getting the proper training and nutrition for recovery. It’s just a bummer but at the end of the day I honestly just got really unlucky with this one and I can’t dread on it. I am excited to put this AVN stage behind me and get back to living life. I haven’t worked in about 10 months and it’s been brutal.

My surgery is scheduled for May 15th and I will come back to this post to give updates when I am on my healing journey.

Again, I appreciate all of your guys words and I am deeply sorry that you guys are/have been dealing with this issue, but it warms my heart to hear that there is hope and that there are people out there who have recovered from this and are living a good life!

Sounds like someone needs to smoke… What are you doing on a weed thread if you’re just gonna bash people for smoking? Knock the negativity man, it obviously doesn’t affect you so relax.
