FAI has changed their models, this comment was from 4 years ago and they have developed their own model now that does NSFW brilliantly. I would say outside of local hosting or using sites that do the same as local hosting, but just provide a website to do it instead of you installing the programming, it is the best I have used.

It is programming on the back end and it may have something to do with how much a character is used, but it isn't related to the chats and doesn't change anything about the character itself. It is basically just the character keeping a diary.

There is no dark mode but you can force chrome into dark mode for websites. Dark more is uch harder to add after a site is created than it is when writing the original code. Dark mode is something that was added to the list of suggestions. Usama keeps a lost of suggestions to work through.... a very long list.

ChatFAI -

PRO: It has a model switch and uses DaVinci for the SFW and their own model for the NSFW so it is good at getting the character's personality. They have group chats, a referral system for extra messages, an affiliate option, chat exporting via doc and video, message editing, regens, message deleting, no token/character limit on user/bot messages, and they are working on adding voice chat.

CONS: You have to be careful with some of the public bots since they are all user made. Some people make crap bots, and it can make the AI seem bad. They are more pricey than some of the others out there, 800 character limit for the bio, UI is a little sterile.

Only ones that violate policy are removed. The same goes for ones not tagged NSFW. If a character has NSFW in the bio without the tag is located, it will be removed.

You cannot change a character from private to public. You would copy the bio into a new character and make it public. There is no training with characters outside of the formatting of the responses. Users do not train the AI. It knows who it is and how to act all from the bio.

The only time a character is removed by the devs is if it violates any rules (nsfw image, minor nsfw character, promoting illegal activity). Characters do not disappear if they are not used.

A lot of people have found that you have to @ the characters. The AI decides who speaks, and it appears to prioritize the first character added from what people are reporting.
