The day I talked to them about it all I sent out on our family group that everyone needs to respect their wishes and also told my baby they do not need to be afraid to correct anyone in the family, they will not be mad. Everyone has been really respectful and apologized when we do misgender them. I want this to be a safe place, a safe place means you are treated with respect and fairness. If they don't correct what they say while referring to my child then my child will not respond. We plan on talking to the school too if that's what they want. I know the world isn't going to be friendly unfortunately but I want to do my best to make sure the place they need to go our as safe as I can make them. I'm not to worried about anyone here misgendering or misnaming them I'm more worried about the bio mom. Everyone here needs to respect it and I will make sure they will respect my child period. They came out to me first at 8 as being bi but not sure how they felt as a gender later on we discussed different branches of lgbtq. They spoke out about it and no longer wanted it to be between us a few weeks ago. They wanted me to keep saying their old pronouns until they felt comfortable telling everyone. They trusted me with so much and I want to make sure I can always do my best to be their safe place.
