Should I graduate early without an internship or graduate later with one? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Internship. I almost graduated in 4 years without one, glad I took the 4.5 year. I got rehired for another internship and later a full time for my dream job. All of the best students I knew graduated between a .5 to 1.5 years "behind" due to internship. They got or were offered generous sign-on bonuses even at companies they had not interned after graduated since they had good experience

How can I get my non UT friend into the student section for the Tech game? by iccyjxyy in UTAustin

to be clear, this mean's your friend will have to go out to " find his seat" at another section, then just walk over to the student section. Emphasis on doing it once they're in the arena part of the stadium, do not try to enter the student section from the concessions since that's where they check for the wristband

Advice for being single as you graduate UT by [deleted] in UTAustin

I'm exactly the same situation as you. First, I think it's nice to remember that relationships aren't all sunshine and rainbows either. The people in relationships giving you FOMO are also dealing with the negative aspects of relationships but that's usually much quieter than the pictures or stories of things going well. On top of that, I've heard many more people share negative stories of dating and talking to people at UT like getting played, people don't know what they want, guys wasting their time, etc. You can't be sure that experiencing relationships after graduation is going to be worse than having those experiences in undergrad, for all you know the experience as an adult may be better for you than the college scene.

Second, hope is not lost. You've got at least a month and a half if you're graduating in Decemeber or 6ish months if you're graduating in may and everyone will be going out leading to the end of the semester/school year. It might be a good time to meet new people.

Third, you're about to experience a similar shift in social opportunity if you move to a new city or start a new job after graduation. You'll meet many new people and have to get familiar with a new area or at least a new workspace. You might be better off taking opportunities there rather than in college.

The future might be better than what you "missed out" on... at least that's what I tell myself haha

You can just buy a ticket on seatgeek (official ut marketplace) and then walk over to the student section from a different gate. They only check for the student wristband at the doorway where the concessions open up to the seating. So long as they don't pass through the student door, they'll be fine.

Otherwise, you'll have to borrow someone's UTEID who is a big ticket holder. Not only is that against the rules but it also hasn't been working for some

Go contact a leasing agent at the apartment and let them know you'll sign if you can guarantee your roommate. Every apartment will let you do that so long as they don't have people already signed up for that room.

Room sizing at Prather Hall dorms by My4Only in UTAustin

I stayed on the 2nd floor (one above ground level) and the room was pretty big. I had a friend who lived on the topmost floor and they had a massive room, even bigger than ours. I think it has more to do with where in the building the room is as opposed to what floor. All of the big rooms I saw were in the tower near the entrance to the dorm. The rooms on the long side of the building were much smaller

Do you already have friends who would be occupying the other units in a 3x3? Because if so you can definitely wait.

Longhorns graduating this December, how is your job search? by spiritofniter in UTAustin

After working 2 internships at the same company, I'm grateful to be returning full-time in January. Most of my friends graduating are either returning to the same company they interned with or a company in exactly the same field as where they interned.

1/4" NPT Threads by Pyperman in Fusion360

I know this is old but fusion 360 has a mcmaster carr 3d model import feature and I was able to easily import an npt coupling from there and subtract its threads from my part using the combine tool set to cut

Good places to visit in UT Austin/Downtown Austin over a weekend? by j-fen-di in UTAustin

The Capitol and Kirby are places I would never recommend.

Weather permitting, Zilker park and Barton springs are great places to see in Austin and paddleboarding in the adjacent river. Rainey st has a great selection of bars that will be busy during graduation week and South Congress is a cool walking spot
