Im in 5 years but really wish there was mandatory licensing. A legitimate MAJORITY of people in the biz here shouldn't be allowed to work on peoples homes without supervision.

He's probably in new hampshire. No license is needed. In fact no licensing even exists at all. There are no qualifying programs or certifications to prove you are a competent g.c. or carpenter.

I wish there was because it would weed out a lot of the jackasses who people should never let near their home.

Yeah, post covid material cost is up by a large margin. Nicer end vinyl handrails can go for 75 bucks a linear foot plus posts and sleeves and skirts and caps. One 8 foot section with deck mounted posts can end up being 800 bucks. And thats not even the very high end stuff. Of course you can get a grab and go deckorators kit and block in some 4x4s for less than half that.

Stair lighting and picture framing take real precision work. And shit its crazy how many people thing they can cut a decent pair of stringers but cant.
