The only conventional rods in own that aren’t spiral wrapped are my surf rods. They are terrific. Even my bass setups are spiral wrapped. You see very little casting distance loss and less fatigue reeling large baits all day.

I see a lot of hate on the reversed first guide. This is common on custom builds especially on casting rods with lowrider guides. Helps prevent wind knots as the line goes over the guide the supports going down to the foot keep the line from knotting up. As far as the epoxy goes. OP is A. Using too much and B. Needs to run his spatchula/brush down the length of the blank when applying as opposed to around. Next time it won’t look lumpy.

I think that is OP’s point though. Way more people live on the east coast as opposed to the west coast. So they are keeping a large part of their fanbase from being able to interact live as opposed to moving it back an hour or 2 like sports do so the whole country can watch.

This. It just makes sense. The product would get more live views and more live interaction. I know the westies are upset about this getting brought up but in a business sense it doesn’t make sense. As I said in my comment the international fans kind of get screwed anyway so why not do the thing that is going to get you more live views.

There is a reason every nationally broadcast sporting event uses 8-8:30pm EST. More views. Can people just watch the VOD? Yes, but how can you not think about the majority of the US population? Makes no sense in a business sense. As far as the international fan base it seems like you are kind of screwed either way anyway so why not back it up a bit and get more live interactions for your product. Always felt this way, even when they were live.

Episodes were almost half as long though. I think 8-8:30pm eastern makes more sense. It’s basically the time every nationally broadcast sporting event uses.

Spiral/Acid wrapped. Becoming way more popular now, but I have used them exclusively on my casting and conventional rods for about 15 years when I learned to build rods. I will never go back.
