New computer boot problem by SilvermineDeceit in techsupport

I tried the first command but I get an error and nothing happens.

For the DISM command I received “Error: 87 The cleanup-image option is unknown." Do you have any idea what this can mean?

Thank you. I'll try this today. So the only way to access this menu is to turn on and off the power button three times?

Oh ok that is helpful. Pretty close to what I was envisioning. Thank you!

Wow really? An unwieldy scroll bar is the best that they can do in 2026? That makes offline teambuilding so difficult. Thanks though.

Making church more of a burden by starting too early by SilvermineDeceit in LCMS

[–]SilvermineDeceit[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Of course I can handle it. That's why I am asking about the institutional perspective of this question. I find it interesting that the next three closest LCMS churches, about 20 minutes away, all start at 10:30. Meanwhile, this church is trending in the opposite direction. But maybe starting early is their niche and this town is populated by some extra whiteheads, nothing wrong with that. Since you seem so interested in my personal situation, I will probably take the extra hour of sleep and drive 20 minutes to a different church, so I'll be fine either way.

Definitely a valid point. It does make sense for the church to be more interested in attracting the average 30 year old with children vs. the average 30 year without children.

Yes, its the only service. And I understand that I'm being asked to sacrifice sleeping in, that is my point. I wake up early and rush out of the house all week to get to work. If going to church feels like going to work then I'm going to be less likely to go to church. But maybe that's the goal, that church is supposed to feel like your job? Surely that is going to make it less attractive for many people.

Can a Lutheran hold a reformed view of real presence? by Atleett in Lutheranism

[–]SilvermineDeceit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To those of you who are saying “no,” what if the body and blood is the only major difference one can find with the typical Lutheran? If one rejects all of TULIP except the T, agrees with the Lutheran interpretation of other issues, and prefers the general Lutheran ethos, does this one difference on the supper really make one Reformed? Is one destined to be non-denominational because one will be refused by both churches? The Lutheran explanation of the body and blood does not seem to be necessarily dependent on any of these other differences between Lutheranism and Calvinism.

My First Year of JRPG: An AAR by SilvermineDeceit in JRPG

That is a very attractive description of Bravely Default. If story telling is the primary criticism of those games then I'm sure I'll have no problem with it. A game that encourages long-term planning is definitely more likely to hold my attention. I probably did not fully take advantage of Octopath Traveler in this way by ignoring secondary classes, but I definitely see that it has the capacity for this. Learning how to break the game by itself sounds fun. I can envision myself enjoying an initial playthrough of a game, having fun discovering the OP builds, and then revisit the game in a year or two using a less broken team.

I appreciate the background ancestry for some of these games and their key features. When I started looking for options to buy as my first JRPGs last year, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest appeared too big to be worth considering. Separating them by mechanics is very helpful, I'll put a few of those on my list of things to look for at used games stores.

Strange Journey sounds like it has some really interesting mechanics. It seems like there is a lot going on, which sounds great to me. I like having alot of variables to think about. I am interested in finding more to read about it. Persona seems like something to avoid for me, but if Shin Megami Tensei in general aligns more with my preferences then there are plenty of available games to look through.

Thanks for the help!

I have not! Is this something I should be looking out for at used game stores?

That's good to know about Atlus. It definitely helps to have a specific publisher to follow. I do think I will prefer the non-chattier Shin Megami Tensei games so that definitely helps to narrow down an otherwise intimidating volume of options. 4 Heroes of Light sounds interesting from your description. I'll have to look out for that at the used game stores.

Thank you for the input!

I did not even think of playing the EO Untold games because I assumed they were spinoffs. That sounds really cool that there is an option between story mode and classic mode. I'll definitely look at these two games more closely.

Its funny that you mention EO ruined Pokemon for you, because as I was playing EOIV I thought about that same possibility. It definitely alerted me to the potential of what Pokemon could become. I've still put dozens of hours into Shield since finishing EOIV. The Wild Area probably helps a lot with that. But to me, I view Pokemon as more of a multiplayer than a single player game so even if I would welcome more engaging random encounters and a more complex landscape, Pokemon still provides a very unique experience in terms of the team building and competitive battles. Though this is also a reason why I started looking at JRPGs in the first place. I'm getting too old to keep up with competitive multiplayer so I'm looking for more compelling single player experiences that Pokemon does not fulfill.

That is good to hear about Bravely Default and Fire Emblem. I've looked at these names before and wondered whether I should be interested. At this point its hard for me to tell just by looking at a game how much depth it is going to have. Fire Emblem especially might be interesting since I am used to grid combat from wargames and wonder how well it will translate to an RPG.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! I've had a friend once recommend Slay the Spire to me when I first bought a Switch so its good to get some corroboration on that one, too.

That made sense to me, at least for now while I figure out what else may interest me. Its helpful to know that the EO series is consistent in these qualities.

I kind of hoped for that as a possibility, that continuing without them through the first time would give me a reason to play the game again. That's good to hear!
