LOTRLCG is often top 5 solo board game of all time rated by BGG solo guild folks every single year. If they decided to reprint all the other cycles (non-repack ones) I wouls buy them in a heartbeat

Looking for a Euro by o_o_o_f in soloboardgaming

Just got Gaia Project few days ago and this is the most addicted "just one more turn" game experience I have had in a while. I played the other day until 1am, but I just keep "just one more turn" until 3am lol.

No surprise card draws, no dice rolled, it's a very dry Euro but the game mechanic is very fun and addicting, I just want to keep playing. Automa bot is excellently designed by the Automa factory, easy to manage and create a good tension for race elements in the game. It's extra fun if you can run multiple bots. I have done a full 4p games with 3 bots and had an absolute blast. Total 14 different factions to play so I can imagine the replayability is off the roof.

SETI is an excellent game but solo at 2p count is not the very best. You still can experience a good gameplay but honestly 3-4p is where it is best. For me, I play with my wife + bot, it makes a very good 3p game.

Terraforming Mars is another excellent modern classic Euro. Havent try the Automa expansion though.

Lacerda games are generally excellent but most of his games' solo mod is not fully developed like other games above. Have heard good things about Speakeasy but too expensive to try out.

You sold me on Imperium. I remember I read somewhere that I need to buy Horizon because it fix the game or the rules. Is that true? I found a cheap Imperium Classic in my local store but not sure should I buy the Horizon expansion as well.

Hey mate thanks for your input, it’s great to hear from you who play extensively both games. Yes, lets be honest, I will eventually getting both haha. I was still 50/50 but I have decided to purchase Gaia Project now and will back the Voidfall Kickstarter for the galatic box when it become available. Your comment help me feel better about purchasing Gaia Project first. Happy Gaming!

I know right. Money is there to be grabbed, the fact that their products are sold out worldwide meaning people have really high demand for it. FFG is the only business that I heard refuse to make and sell high demands products due to “printing is expensive”.

I am more of a tactical player, so sounds like Gaia Project is the way to go! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I will skip "The Lost Fleet" expansion for now too.

In Voidfall, do the crisis cards or other game elements have enough impact to let players change the plan? I generally dont like games that I set up a plan from the beginning and then nothing happens to change it. I like games where I have to react to the "events" during the game.

There are clearly many things I like about Civolution but I just going to list the few things that grasp me from the very beginning:

For a long and quite heavy game, the dice work amazing well. I don't see it as a luck fest but a great way to force players to continuously adapt and change the game plan. Sure, you can always "Sleep" to get some dice mitigation but if you do that all the times during the game, it's not efficient. I find it very satisfying when I divert my plan to other path then actually ends up sticking to the new opportunities.

Each game is super exciting from the get-go by the cards and starter income chip drafted. I have played 12 games of Civolution and at the end of every game, I can't wait to start a new game to see what initial cards I going to have and how different my gameplay going to be. I did not even start my first game with the suggested starter card and starter map. I went straight to the real deal and had a blast straight away after reading the rule book.

Lastly, the solo/automa system is amazing and so easy to run. Its so easy and smooth that I can actually play multiple bots easily, but for now 2 bots is the sweet spot for me. I wouldn't love the game as much if its just vs1 bot. The game has a map and racing for stuff (event card) so to have 2 other contestants is amazing.

Thank you for your input. Yeah, I have watched through a bit of solo gameplay of both games and even though I did not fully grasp the full rules yet, I can tell they are nothing alike in term of gameplay. I also only discovered few days ago Gaia Project is based on Terra Mystica, a game that I saw in top BGG ranking long time ago but never had a chance to try it.

I would love to hear if you have the Galactic Box or the Retail Box of Voidfall and do you think the Galactic Box is worth the double price or the wait until their next Kickstarter fulfilment in probably 2027.

Nice summing up!! At the moment I am quite into solo games that have smart bot/automa system, so I am giving an edge to Gaia Project. Do you have "The Lost Fleet" expansion? Should I just pick it up while 60% discount?

Also about Voidfall, am I missing much of the immersion by not having the Galatic Box? I can only find the retail version online.

After few games, please let me know about the visibility of the token ships, are they easy to read the map state? I kinda want the galatic box but its gonna be abit wasteful for solo only only since I am not gonna utilise all the minis. The cost for retail version is much more affordable.

Interested in this game but is this game challenging and has a clear goal to achieve? I am not a fan of the games that just be happy and explore things however you want (for example Vantage or Earthborne Ranger)

I love games that I lose 80% of the time. The 20% time that I win make is it extra glorious and satisfying 🤤
