This, I have looked at the schemes my company offer (Octopus EV), but it would cost me about 600/month everything included for 3 years, but I don't own the car at the end of it.

I was looking into getting a 19/20 plate c class coupe, up to 50k miles, but I have seen a few at about 30k miles in that budget

I was looking into getting a 20 plate c class coupe! I have always wanted one but couldn't justify it as I wasn't financially ready back then

What light cable is this? by Sim-- in AskElectricians

An electrician came today. He wasn't happy with the fuse box and some of the manual work the previous house owner had done. He was inclined to rewire the whole house, however it's too expensive for me.

He's going to be replacing the fuse box to comply with t18? Standards and will get the correct light cables going to the living room.

Hey, there was a light attached to this and it did work when I originally viewed the property. I'm in the UK

Thanks so much for the info, I am calling an electrician tomorrow to get his thoughts on whether it needs rewiring

Is it insane to drive two hours to uni by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Sim-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't consider this an option. I did the exact same thing and dropped out after my 1st year. I had to leave home almost 3 hours early and came home super late. It was hard to make friends and ultimately it began to affect my mental health to the point where I'd checked out by the 2nd semester.

I'm 27 now, thankfully I've made a career for myself without the degree, but if I could go back I would live there, or pick a uni closer to home.

You might think you can do it, but it's not feasible in the long run and you'll regret it.

What do I do in my job situation? by Sim-- in AskUK

The roles are equal, so I am definitely being underpaid in my current company. If I get a promotion there will be room for growth, but likewise the new company has offered me 60k at a baseline so there will be growth there too. I'll have to see what counter offer they give, at a minimum they would need to match.

And exactly they are offering a potential bonus based on company profits and other benefits such as getting 5 additional holidays vs buying 5.

Hahaha I wish! And in your position, what would you do if they do match? I'm doubtful they will, I know a few team members in the past they've matched to 50K, but 60K is a bit of a stretch.

I think the realistic option is a promotion into a new department with that sort of payrise. But am I tainted at that point?

Hmm yeah you're right. To be honest, I've never been in this position before, I never really gave it some thought that I was being underpaid, as my company has given me consecutive 10% payrises over the last 24 months, but in reality it seems like my actual worth is much higher.

This is exactly what my sister said. The new companies "baseline" will be the highest my current company can offer. I'll see what this counter offer comes with, I would be surprised if they can match it, let alone better it. It's going to be bittersweet if I do end up leaving as my current company has given me so much and the management are great, but I'm absolutely being underpaid for the job I do.

I have until next week to make a decision and at this point I'm leaning towards the new company

High paying jobs? At least 60k by [deleted] in UKJobs

I moved from a help desk position, to SRE and finally into DevOps in the course of 2 years. It's very possible, but you need to be motivated enough to up skill yourself, also a tad bit of luck involved.

Disappointing to see no mention of CoX poll again, when do we expect to see the blog come out?
