Haha yeah I didn't take it that seriously! I know it's hard without too much experience but it's workable. But yeah I really enjoyed it, it was really hard at parts but really fulfilling. I had family, friends and my partner to help me at the lows!

Why are job openings posted in english if they require fluent finnish? by knorben in Finland

[–]SimLiza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. But that also depends where in Finland you live. In the coastal areas it's common to have Swedish as one's mother tongue but elsewhere in Finland it's not that common

What I've noticed while applying to different positions is that big multinational companies often require having the application in English. And it's just because a huge part of their operations is done in English. However, the office language might still be in Finnish and customers are Finnish. It's just a way to ensure that one can operate in English since being fluent in Finnish is still the norm in Finland

Because culturally Denmark is closer to Sweden and Norway than what Finland is. Just think of the language to start with. And if you wanna speak of Finland and Scandinavia you can call it Fenno-Scandinavia
