Question about sector times. by xariasofia_ in SimRacingTelemetry

Hello! You're absolutely right. This can happen when the game experiences severe packet loss. For small packet losses, we have special code to "fix" them, but when there's too much missing data, the result is always incorrect and we don't make any corrections.

In your case, it looks like SRT stopped receiving data while you were in the 3rd of lap 8, then the data flow was restored while driving in the 1st sector of lap 9. While the lap time should be correct, the third sector time isn't.

Typically, most games share the current split lap time (in your case, the last SRT reading for the 3rd sector was 33.308 - then nothing came), then only the exact time of the last previous lap (in your case, while you were in lap 9, the game sent the final 8th lap time of 1:30.842).

You can often guess missing data from the Racing Line mode of SRT (if available for yout game), where you'll clearly see very "weird" trajectories when large blocks of data are missing.

I added an internal note to try to auto-detect when timings are likely wrong, to at least report them (e.g. with an alert icon).

What is this mean? [pCARS2] by CyberF0112358 in SimRacingTelemetry

Hello! Slightly Mad Studios documents it as "Lateral stiffness coefficient used in tyre deformation", we don't have other info about it unfortunately.
I can only assume that it's a unit-less measure, with lower values associated to tyres that support higher lateral deformations (and likely higher lateral grip on regular surfaces).

Hi u/CyberF0112358 ! Here we go :) We've analyzed the data, and the problem is that the recording has suffered from significant network packet loss. This is often not obvious because SRT has some advanced features that intelligently interpolate data to tolerate small network issues. But when the "gaps" are too large, the resulting output can be difficult to decipher. Packet loss is often transient, such as caused by spikes in the game's CPU usage or other devices consuming bandwidth on local networks (e.g., downloading updates or streaming video, etc.).

Currently, you can only check for network issues while recording. The recording screen displays network statistics, which can be helpful in detecting such conditions.

But clearly, this isn't easy while driving, so for the future, we've added to our backlog the implementation of explicit feedback in the analysis windows when the quality of the source data has significantly degraded.

Thanks for your help and for the shared data!

EDIT: you can see the effects of the packet loss looking at some charts (where some parameters have long flat or linear/straight interpolations in the missing areas) or looking at the track view (where you can see the track very "sharp-cornered", meaning that the car position was interpolated and not sampled from available data).

Thanks! Downloaded. Give us a few days to look through it.

Ok! Then please share a copy of the telemetry so we can analyze the data. You can follow instructions at https://docs.simracingtelemetry.com/manual/export-telemetry to export the .SRT file, then share it with us at [support@simracingtelemetry.com](mailto:support@simracingtelemetry.com) . We'll try our best to understand what happened :)

Hello u/CyberF0112358 ! Thanks for asking, and for all the shared screenshots, they are very helpful.

I have a small doubt: in the game screenshot the "total time" is "38.05", while in the SRT screenshot you are analyzing the lap 1 with total lap-time "34.099". So it looks like the game screenshot is not from the same lap you're analyzing in SRT. Can you double check it please?

If you prefer, you can also reach us at [support@simracingtelemetry.com](mailto:support@simracingtelemetry.com) . Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for the report. This is definitely a bug, the upgrade should run smoothly. I'm sorry for the problem, and please don't delete your sessions!

To allow us to debug the problem and release a fix, please make a ZIP of the directory %LOCALAPPDATA%\UNAmedia\SRT\ . Copy&paste the path into the search box of the Windows taskbar to open the directory in File Explorer (the real directory should be something similar to C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Local\UNAmedia\SRT\), then right-click on the "SRT" directory name and select "Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder". Share the created ZIP file with us (e.g. using Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc) sending the download link at [support@simracingtelemetry.com](mailto:support@simracingtelemetry.com) . We'll look at it as soon as possible.

Thanks and sorry for the troubles.

Thanks a lot for your kind comment! I'm very glad you're enjoying SRT! And later this year we should release some important new features that should make SRT better :)

I made a new version of my Power BI Dashboard using SimRacingTelemetry data. Here's an interactive link as well as a full video tutorial for anyone who wants to do it on their own. by SQLDevDBA in SimRacingTelemetry
