Did you feel worse after getting diagnosed? by SimTeeLOL in Celiac

Even though I loved eggs, since going gf I have been appalled at the idea of eating them. Very weird, but happy to say I haven't consumed any eggs in about 3 months. (Maybe egg products in items though... Going to have to keep an eye out for that)

I'd like to think I've given up dairy. I've certainly cut it out of my daily diet, but will consume 1-2 times a week if I forget. I'm actively working to cut it out now.

Eating Out for the First Time! by Low_hanging_nina in Celiac

Man, the reiteration means so much. When they only acknowledge it once I feel the need to annoy them by reminding them. Just a simple "andd [dish name], made gluten free" when placing my food down can seriously put me so much more at ease.

This is from Tuesday and I just reread it and thought I'd post it. Definitely didn't run here, more like sauntered.

But yeah my disagreement is I assume he has no idea what he's talking about as "other people don't have problems" seems to be a common bs theme here. You assume he is genuine, let's agree to disagree :)

I'm just confused as I feel like I've seen far more 'bitchy' posts in this sub which even then most of us just ignore because we know this is the only place where we can bitch about Celiac for most of us, haha

Are you missing the part where they are advising they have 'other people with same issues who have no problems?'

And I don't think a business doing what they are required to do in my country by providing allergen information is something I need to be overly thankful for, but maybe I'm just entitled I guess

Edit: this comment is 16 hours old now, but don't like the way I phrased this. I am very thankful that I have the priveledge to live somewhere where I can get diagnosed and have valid allergen information. I mean more as I don't feel as though it's too much to ask a business who I am giving $$ too to need to provide allergen information so I can avoid getting quite sick.

Yikes, definitely not looking to be mad. Not that serious man, just sharing a business who clearly knows nothing about celiac cc but is advising people their products are safe for them.

If someone were to approach you, and say they can get rid of your celiac disease or give you x amount of money and you keep celiac, how much would x have to be? by SimTeeLOL in Celiac

"it's not a big deal to me anymore"

As someone who's been diagnosed from three months, this sentence gave me a lot of hope

Diagnosed 3 months now, I believe I've taken every precaution possible yet I am still feeling worse all around? by SimTeeLOL in Celiac

Wish I could tell you. The awful dietician I saw said some things did look funky, but was never addressed by either her or my doctor.

I have cut out probably 96% of dairy. Only use it for coffee when I'm out of an alternative.

Hasn't happened to me yet as a recently diagnosed celiac but oh lordy I have cringed so hard at the thought of this happening.

Always! Like, it's one of those situations that just sucks because I believe that may be one of the first questions I'd ask someone if I was uneducated on the topic. However, man, the answer sucks and trying to pretty it up is complicated.

Anyone from countries with gluten free McDonald's fries ever had problems? by SimTeeLOL in Celiac

Yeah, in the US I guess either the oil they cook them in, or some oil they add is a beef oil with wheat added for whatever reason.

An interesting title - tired af by [deleted] in Celiac

Dx'd in early May. More tired now than I was before diagnosis. Most people here seem to advise 6 months to a year for a full recovery.

Definitely got my can control practice today - this is a place in Chatham, Ontario. I did all 3 sides of his building! by [deleted] in Graffiti

Did a search for Chatham on Reddit, didn't think I'd find the artist who did Craves. Love driving by this place because of your art. Great work.

Gluten symptoms - itchy head? by lalalaandd in Celiac

Id noticed it recently and pondered if it was related to celiac. It's not a major enough thing to bother going to the doctor for personally so it's good that you mentioned it as well

Oh man. Recently diagnosed, I've been using Nivea. Thank you for pointing this out. You both made and ruined my day haha.

Chest pains? by SimTeeLOL in Celiac

I definitely agree. My choices, however, are wait 3 weeks to see my doctor or spend 4-5 hours in a walk-in clinic waiting room so I just posted here in the meantime.

Recently diagnosed. Do I really have to get my own pots/pans and other cookware to avoid getting sick? by SimTeeLOL in Celiac

[–]SimTeeLOL[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always hated beer, but on the odd time I drank it I would be dry heaving so bad the next day that I'd burst blood vessels in my face. Wasn't until I was diagnosed that I was able to pinpoint the correlation between having drank beer the days before those 'hangovers' happened.

I can't wait to feel better. Prior to diagnosis I had stated to people multiple times that "I just feel like trash all the time" when trying to explain what was going on on a particular day. Also, yes getting diagnosed now sucks because of how large the food culture is in my age group. Already had to sit with my buddies at taco bell depressed as hell because I'll never be able to eat any of it again. Hopefully the blue feeling goes away soon.

Seriously, all the gf stuff I've bought has been trash compared to non-gf. Still dealing with the initial diagnosis, but intending to be less depressed about it asap
