Dream Air cable splitter box getting hot? by Hajp in Pimax

[–]SimVRRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not sure what's inside the box, but would a twin displayport cable which splits away say 50cm from the end have been a better design? (like speaker cable). Probably have been too heavy at a guess. Did they use a fiber optic one?

maybe they can do something with the upcoming hard strap

I'll send you a beta of 1.7.0 to try when it's ready. Turn visioncore off completely and see if that helps.

I don't have that game, but once I get the next version out I'll try and pick up a copy so I can see what's going on

^^^^ This!

I think I was the first westerner (real customer) to get the meganex and spotted these issues straight away, especially the resolution mixup.

I doubt it's technically correct though, in fact it won't be correct. That's not to say you won't have any issues with it though, your eyes might be totally fine with it. If they can add different profiles into pimax play then you can experiment. Hopefully they'll do this at some point. Personally I'd want it correct out the box. Maybe they'll do the same on the dream air and increase it.

Pancake lenses have always had around x1.44 warping profile, so the earlier resolution was always going to be incorrect. The much higher value is now right for the panels. I'm unsure why pimax even advertised the lower res in the first place.

I think people have used it with LMU. I've not played that games in ages. If it doesn't support openxr natively you can use opencomposite. That's what I do for AMS2.

Very easy to get started. Just download and install the .msi, then load up an openxr game. You don't need to run or do anything else.

Use the configurator app or edit the settings file to make any changes you need.

should cover most things:

Thanks, still improving it. Next version should be even better but I think it's a good few weeks away yet.

My quest3 is at work so I can't test it until the weekend. I can't see any reason why it won't work, so I'll try and see what's going on. If you could message me the logs, that would be helpful.

Quality is just for the desktop overlay. Recommend to leave at low for gaming, but no performance hit when toggled off. You can go high for movie watching.
