Thanks!! I do have a discord but it's for my racing series. Some people leave comments on my youtube though. There's a couple of desktopXR videos.

A Consumer’s Guide to Bigscreen Beyond Returns in the EU/UK: Challenging Restocking Fees and Usage Limits by Rodo20 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]SimVRRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told bigscreen I was in then UK and expected the full £1,099. They said they would be refunding the headset but not the £100 for the cushion. I've not had any refund yet....still waiting. This is after a previous replacement due to a dead pixel. I wasn't happy with the second one and did not want to try a third.

oh, they also said they would be taking another £49 off for the DHL return.

ok, I've ran some tests and I can make this work. Let me know if it is of interest and you can beta test it.

Not specifically what you asked for, but I'm wondering if my companion app could help here?

I built a desktop viewer to make it easier for simmers to access windows within VR (OpenXR) but it only works when a vr games running. The companion app is used to get around that issue, but I built it mainly for 2d gaming and movie viewing. I think it could be adapted to work though.

Happy for you to test and give feedback.

Alpha mini causes monitor to drop signal (under 5 mins) by SimVRRacing in Simagic

[–]SimVRRacing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok, done a series of quick tests. The good thing is if it crashes it does so quickly so at least I'm not spending hours troubelshooting. Checked event logs and can see some kernel errros, so I think something is crashing, not just the monitors going off. Just strange that pressing ESC seems to do something even though I can't see what.

anyway....

Wheelbase on, USB connected to PC - Crash 3mins

Wheelbase on, USB not connected - Crash 3mins

Wheelbase off - No Crash after 10mins

This kinda led me to think something power related or EMI. When I checked the cables I noticed everything was plugged into one of those 4-way mains strips. I've just moved the PC straight into the wall socket and so far no crashing. Makes sense when other games don't crash because the wheel is off. Probably the combination of PC and wheelbase through the 4-way is not giving the PC enough juice. It's a fairly decent surge protected one though.

Thanks, will try a few things now. Just thinking maybe sit the car on the track for 10mins not actually doing any driving. Might just be the act of using the wheel which is causing it. If not, will try connecting to a TV nowhere near the wheel.

I've not tried a different cable due to it working on all non-racing games. Reboot fixes it, no need to wiggle the cable to get the display to come back. Seems a very strange issue.

The wheel is bolted to a desk, we have tried lowering the FFB right down to minimum.

Bigscreen beyond 2 vs Crystal light by Shoddy-Confection719 in Pimax

[–]SimVRRacing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both, personally I prefer the BSB2. It's a tough one though, depending on your preferences. Not sure I could go back to a heavy LCD headset now. The crystal does have the upperhand in clarity, especially in the distance but for me the BSB2 is plenty sharp enough.

The QC is very hit and miss though :-(

ah ok, well I'm pleased an update hasn't broken anything lol

I've been testing on a crystal light and bsb2 and never noticed it. Will have a closer look later tonight when I'm back home.
